Wedding Photographer of the Year
Mar 24, 2010 Wedding Photographers
The first Wedding Photographer of the Year (WPOY) award was hosted by Kodak and Better Photography magazine at the Hyatt Regency, Mumbai on 19th March, 2010. At the most awaited event for Wedding Photographers in India, the organisers showcased and announced the the Kodak Better Photography Wedding Photographer of the Year and the Best Wedding Photographers in six different categories.
Kodak Better Photography Wedding Photographer of the Year- Ranjan M Zingade
Bridal Portraiture- Jiten M Patel, Ahmedabad

Couple Portraiture- Vivek Sequeira, Mangalore

Family & Friends- Pradip Barrai, Kolkata

Emotions- Ranjan Zingade, Pune

Behind the Scenes- Anill Patil, Nashik

Photo Series- William Chang, New Delhi

Says Madhavan Pillai, Editor, Better Photography, “Wedding photography is an oft misunderstood, oft underestimated profession. This is despite the fact that it more exciting and satisfying than many other genres of photography. So, I am glad WPOY 2010 came to fruition. Wedding photographers now have annual awards on a national level that they can call their own”. The quest for India’s best wedding photographer started five months back through a grand scale pan India hunt. The organisers received thousands of entries and a jury of eminent photographers such as Fawzan Hussain, Ariz Aira, Rooshad Garda, Uzair Kharawala, Seshu Badrinath, Sephi Bergerson and Prakash Tilokani chose the final winners.

Hi,
This is Pradip Barrai, who is lucky enough to get the first WPOY2009 award from Kodak & Better Photography magazine. Actually I am a Travel photographer, always try to capture life of people closely, I love to capture their feelings, emotions, and obviously their faith.
From my 7yrs. journey with photography I just attended only two wedding ceremonies but now on, I have decided to do this type of job regularly and professionally, credit for which goes to Kodak & Better Photography magazine. I am thankful to Kodak & Better Photography magazine and also their associated partners who introduced this type National awards and also for making a platform of wedding photographers.

3.IN FUTURE YOU PEOPLE CAN DO CONTEST–COVERING ALL TYPE OF MARRIAGES–DIFFERENT CATEGORIES–AND ENCOURAGING ALL TYPE OF PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS IN EACH AND EVERY STATE OF INDIA. as a kodak customer for the past thirty years, I can say only KODAK CAN DO THIS. 1. Thanks for the award winning high quality photos on metallic paper and CD.
2. In my view, photo in “Behind the scene” ,by Anil Patil is good.
3. Print quality of “Bridal Portraiture” is not as good as the photo on your web, print looks over exposed.
4. In “couple portrait”,yellow cast of evening back ground, does not match with couple in the bright day light.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Sorry for the delay in the feedback. The dvd was great with the audio(could be better) . Looking through the photographs, one realises that you have to print your precious photos that too on such excellent paper. The photos are all top class and they do capture your eye and tug at your heart. Such poignant moments captured in time shall always evoke pleaseant memories. Emotions by Ranjan & Bridal portraiture by Jiten Patel are the most striking.Do keep me posted and thanks once again.

Hello, I use a Nikon and I accidently used a cloth to clean the inside of my Nikon. Now, I have scratches that show by looking inside my lense but absolutely nothing shows on the images. Is this something I should be worried about that could eventually be a problem? And yes, I love nikon and am not in the canon camp… LOL don’t criticize me! Thanks for your help. I don’t know why but as a wedding journalist only one image impressed me and I think deserved the award. Rest of them are just ordinary. I don’t know what judges had in there minds.
Too bad I could not submit my images last year.
