Love Actually – Shamain and Azam’s Platinum Day of Love

Our new initiative ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring engaged couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates beautiful people in love as they start their lives together. Because real love can only begin, never end. Over coffee, a makeover and a photo shoot we get couples to tell us how they met, show us their platinum love bands and talk about their day of love.

Shamain and Azam were friends as kids, but love blossomed only years later, when they reconnected through mutual friends. Talk about destiny! They got chatting and were inseparable for two years before they realized that they were just meant to be.

Shamain tells us about Azam’s ‘out of the world’ proposal, what she calls one of the most memorable moments of her life.” Divulging the details, she elaborates, “Azam took note of my interest in scenery and art and put together a heartfelt proposal. He took me out for a picnic at White Rock Lake in Dallas where he said we would have a drawing/sketching contest. The goal was to sketch out the beautiful view of the lake with the Dallas skyline in the background and we were not allowed to see each other’s drawing till the end. After about half an hour we turned around to judge whose drawing was better and there it was. Azam had poorly attempted to draw a picture of himself on one knee, proposing to me. Of course I said, ‘Yes’.”

Shamain was sure that she would win the contest since she was the artist of the two, but Azam won her heart for good. Shamain says that she intends to frame that drawing, after all it pictures one of the most beautiful memories of their life.

Cut to the couple’s engagement, which was a very memorable affair as well. Photographers Matt and Ivy did a fabulous job of putting the couple at ease, and bringing out the best in them. “It’s just the way they make you feel– very comfortable and that reflects in the final product. They were really able to capture us at our natural best,” says Shamain who can’t stop praising the photographer duo.

The inspiration behind the session itself came from the fact that Shamain always wanted to have a photo shoot with a vintage feel. Matt and Ivy got the brief bang-on and did an immaculate job bringing her dream to life. “I think what really sets them apart is the merging of both of their styles since they both take their own set of pictures throughout the shoot,” concludes Shamain.

If you’re getting married in 2014 and would like to be a part of ‘Love Actually’ write to us (editor@weddingsutra.com) with the link to your FB profiles, wedding date and ‘how you met’ story. Selected couples will be invited for the shoots in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai.
