A Day with WeddingSutra Favorites: Hetal and Parth

‘A Day with WeddingSutra Favorites’ is when WeddingSutra brings their wedding planning enthusiasm and expertise to excited to-be-weds. We tailor a program for selected WeddingSutra readers and introduce them to jewellery experts, wedding couturiers and other specialists. An invaluable experience for couples planning their wedding.

In our most recent excursion, we spent the day with lovebirds, Hetal and Parth, who met in junior college and hit it off instantly. “With everyone teasing us, it wasn’t until much later that we decided to take this further. It’s been seven years and we’re getting married in Mumbai on the 29th of January, 2015,” says Hetal.

This was their Day with WeddingSutra Favorites.

Stop 1: Tresmode
Hetal’s Review: Our first stop was Tresmode to check out wedding shoes. They have a really good, varied collection. I have my heart set on a pair of amazing black boots though not for the wedding. They’ll be perfect for the outings afterward. We even received a voucher so we can purchase something from their collection later.

Parth’s Review: The men’s collection was very comfortable and suitable for both ethnic as well as western wear, though I’d have preferred a few more color options.

Pricing for Men’s shoes: Rs 3,000 – 12,000
Pricing for Ladies shoes: Rs 1,500 – 7,000

Stop 2: Makeup Consultation and other services at MyGlamm
Hetal’s Review: I got a makeover with soft curls and a fresh ‘daytime’ look. I loved how natural it looked and it set me up for the entire day. The service is really efficient but the best thing about the salon is the variety of services they provide you in the comfort of your own home.

Parth’s mother’s review: While they did Hetal’s makeup and hair, I got taken in for a nail art session. It was so pretty in pink. I’m definitely going to keep it on for a few more days.

Pricing: Depends on service. Bridal makeup services range between Rs 7,000- 12,000.

Stop 3: Kalki Fashions
Hetal’s Review: We visited Kalki to check out the lehengas and other items of the trousseau. I’m definitely going back. The staff was really helpful and the designs they showed us are exactly what I’m looking for. I’ve already fixed an appointment with them so I can choose from their collection for my big day.

Parth’s mother’s review: The sarees were in an excellent range of colors and designs. I thought they were really nice.

Pricing:  Dresses and sarees range from Rs 10,000- 20,000, lehengas start at Rs 30,000 onwards

Stop 4: Bunty and Suchit Mahajan of Deliciae Cakes
Parth’s Review: Hetal and I unanimously loved the Belgian Chocolate, it was to die for. They had some interesting concepts and designs for wedding cakes. We don’t want to go over the top with the design and theirs really appealed to us. Also the mother-son duo is really sweet and friendly to talk to.

Parth’s mother’s Review: I personally preferred the chocolate with strawberry cake but apart from the flavor, I agree with Hetal and Parth’s views on the designs.

Pricing: Rs 1800-2500 per kg

Stop 5: Varuna D Jani Fine Jewellery
Hetal’s Review: Wow! That’s all I could say. What a stunning collection! Varuna calls herself an adornologist and she is very intuitive. Her selection of pieces that perfectly suit your personality and your style is bang on. Also the concept of modular pieces is quite unique.

Parth’s Review: I liked her idea of using the jewellery in different formats: heavier pieces can be broken down into more everyday modules for regular wear. It means your investment is something that works during and after the wedding.

Pricing: On request.

Stop 6: Kankotri Invites
Hetal’s Review: What I really liked were the artifacts they offered as add-ons with their cards. Parth and I thought they were innovative and quirky, adding a really unusual element of fun to the entire invitation process. The gift boxes, the money stash box and the ideas for individual gifts created for special members of the family were very appealing too. And their ability to customize is excellent. They will provide an invitation and the paraphernalia exactly as you want!

Pricing: In the range of Rs 150 – Rs 5000

Stop 7: Canvera Photobook App
Hetal’s Review: Team WeddingSutra introduced us to Canvera, which is an amazing photobook in your phone. It’s very handy for sharing your pictures with your friends and family. Also easier to print and manage your photos because they handle all the nitty-gritty.

Parth’s Review: The Canvera App is cool. Not only does it save you the entire hassle of creating an edited photo album, when you want to show/share it, you don’t have to lug your heavy album along. Your album is in your phone!

Stop 8: The Wedding Studio at JW Marriot Juhu
Hetal and Parth’s Review: A beautifully designed wedding inspiration studio next to the coffee shop at JW marriott, where you can have private wedding related meetings with vendors or service providers. The space also had photobooks filled with décor inspiration and ideas from National Decorators, Gurleen and Dreamzkraft.
