Desi Boyz Director Rohit Dhawan (son of noted film Director David Dhawan) is getting married to fashion merchandiser Jaanvi Desai. The celebrations are between February 10 and 12 at the Park Hyatt, Goa, and the Wedding Planners are Cornerstone Entertainment, the event company owned by Bunty Sajdeh (actor Sohail Khan’s brother-in-law)
According to reports, there will be a Mehendi, Sangeet and Reception—all in Goa, and expected at the celebrations are SRK, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh and John Abraham.

Tina Ambani hosts pre-wedding bash, Jhunjhunwala-Sarda wedding celebrations commence tonight

Abhinav, the son of Amitabh Jhunjhunwala is marrying Prerna Sarda. Amitabh Jhunjhunwala is Anil Ambani’s Chief Lieutenant and R-ADAG Group Vice Chairman. Prerna Sarda is the daughter of Kolkata-based Jute and IT baron Ghanshyam Sarda. Tonight, Tina Ambani hosts a pre-wedding celebration for the to-be-weds, at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Colaba.
Abhinav and Prerna’s engagement was held over a grand vegetarian lunch at The Oberoi in Kolkata on June 12th, 2011. Of course Tina and Anil Ambani were there and so were many other high profile guests like Union Minister Praful Patel, stock market guru Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and Bollywood’s Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Prerna is a graduate of New York University, and was working in her father’s business. Abhinav, a Berkeley graduate works in Singapore.

Genelia- Riteish Deshmukh pick a simple and elegant Wedding Invite

Genelia & Riteish Deshmukh’s wedding celebrations take place between January 31st and February 5th. The guests have received the invitation card designed by Delhi’s famed Entertainment Design Company (EDC). The invites with chocolates are inside a wooden box with the couple’s initials R and G embossed on it. Inside the box is the white on gold card with three inserts for the different functions—sangeet, wedding and reception. Each piece of the hand-made chocolates have the letters R and G imprinted on them.
The decor for the different functions will be done by Aditi and Neelabh Kapoor who run Studio Neelabh. The husband-wife duo specialise in the most elaborate theme weddings and experiential events, and they’ll be handling the sets, decor, florals and technical arrangements for all the three big events- Sangeet, Vidhi and Reception between Grand Hyatt and Taj Lands End. According to reports Genelia will be wearing colorful ensembles by Ritu Kumar, Surily Goel and Manish Malhotra for the different functions.

The Adani family, the leader in the bullion trade is joining hands with Sur-Raj Diamonds, one of the largest exporters of gold and diamond jewellery, and the glittering celebrations are in Udaipur, this month-end. Groom Suraj, the son of Jatin Mehta is marrying Krupa, the daughter of Vinod Adani.
According to sources, the celebration to mark the merger of the Adani and Su-Raj families will be held at the HRH Group’s Shiv Niwas Palace and Jagmandir Island Palace. The rooms at most luxury properties in Udaipur are booked- The Sheraton, Trident, Leela and Udai Vilas. The Wedding Planners are Ahmedabad-based Red Events, and some of the most respected names in the Weddings business are involved in putting together the decor and production.
The Weddings orchestrated by Diamond magnates are always magnificent affairs. The decor and theme usually center around traditional Indian elements, and the guests who include the who’s who from the world of luxury are flown in to experience a colorful, Indian extravaganza. Recently, Viraj Mehta from the Rosy Blue family got married to Nisha Sheth. We heard the highlight of the celebrations was the wow decor @the Sangeet at a South Mumbai hotel. The sprawling banquet halls were transformed like Royal Rajasthan Palaces and the feel was ultimate and magical. Katrina Kaif and Vyas Brothers entertained the audience, and some of the most powerful business magnates were seen dancing like never before.
Zulfi Syed set to Wed

Popular model Zulfi Syed is tying the knot. His fiancé, Sheena Varma is from Mumbai and an interior designer by qualification; the Nikaah ceremony and reception is at Oris Hotel, Mumbai on January 14th and the next day Zulfi is hosting a party at ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton. According to reports, Sheena will be wearing a Sabyasachi outfit for the Mehendi and a Manish Malhotra ensemble for the reception while Zulfi will wear a Paithani suit for the Nikaah and a Rahul Khanna- Rohit Gandhi sherwani for the reception. Zulfi has had a long stint as a model, and also dabbled in acting—so several of his model, designer and actor friends are expected at the reception- Aditya Panscholi, Kangana Ranaut, Tulip Joshi, Sohail Khan and Atul Agnihotri.
Zulfi is a Hotel Management graduate from Bangalore University, is now involved with running a restaurant/ food venture which runs cafes in Goa and Delhi. The Goa cafe is named Hippies, while the Delhi cafe Boombox in Khan market offers street food from around the world. Boombox is opening their next cafe in Connaught Place, Delhi shortly.
The newly-weds will be setting up their new home in Mumbai.

When it’s an alliance between the world’s most prominent diamond merchant and India’s shipping giant, you can be sure the wedding will be the most awaited affair in the city’s social calendar. Viraj, the son of Mona and Russell Mehta is tying the knot with Nisha, the daughter of Bharat Sheth of Great Eastern Shipping. The celebrations are between 7th and 9th January at the Taj Mahal Hotel and Turf Club in South Mumbai. Russel Mehta is the Mumbai-based COO of Rosy Blue, the global conglomerate who also own the retail chain ‘Orra’.
The weddings hosted by the Rosy Blue family (also known as B.Arunkumar & Sons) have always been the most dazzling affairs. The three or four day extravaganzas are a showcase of the most scintillating Indian elements for International connoisseurs who are ferried to India in chartered flights and treated to the ultimate in traditional Indian hospitality. A few years ago, Dilip Mehta’s son Vishal Mehta tied the knot with Shrenuj CEO’s daughter; the theme was ‘going back to the roots’ and world-renowned musical maestros were invited to perform at the very private event. In 2005, another brother Harshad Mehta’s son Rihen got married and the functions were held at the sprawling Cooperage and MMRDA Grounds. The Sangeet was held amidst tight security and managed by the Moranis owned Cineyug. Bollywood’s A-list stars like Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan performed and entertained the over 7,000 guests.

‘Grand’ Baaja Baraat!

Genelia D’Souza and Riteish Deshmukh’s wedding is going to be a ‘Grand’ affair literally. The Bollywood stars wedding celebrations are at Mumbai’s Grand Hyatt Hotel. While media reports state the ceremonies are between February 4th and 6th, sources from the Grand Hyatt indicate it is sometime around that time. While it is unlikely that the family will hire a Wedding Planner, they haven’t finalised on the company that will manage the set-ups and decor; and some of Mumbai’s best Wedding Decorators are making all efforts to get a link to Maharashtra’s most prominent political family. Grand Hyatt of course is deluged with requests from wedding vendors, and calls from the media; keeping in mind all the security and privacy issues the General Manager and core team have put together a detailed instructions manual for all the teams– so for as long as possible, they’d even like to keep the date a ‘secret’.
Earlier Riteish’s eldest brother Amit, got married at Grand Hyatt and soon after Riteish’s marriage, his elder brother (Dheeraj) will marry Honey who is Producer Vashu Bhagnani’s daughter. In 2009 Shilpa Shetty’s wedding reception was held at the Grand Hyatt Ballroom. But the most spectacular yet elegant wedding that took place at the Hotel was in 2010, when the Hotel owner Arun Saraf’s son Varun married Natasha Mittal, the niece of Laxmi Mittal. The Sarafs who live in a mansion-size apartment on the top floor of the Grand Hyatt, hosted two functions at their Hotel, while the other functions were hosted by the Mittals in other hotels.

Shazmeen, the daughter of Tata Sons Limited Director Ishaat Hussain is marrying Rustom, the son of prominent businesswoman Zinia Lawyer of London Pilsner fame. Early this week, the wedding was held as per Parsi traditions at the Agiary in Colaba. On December 16th and 17th the Muslim wedding and post wedding celebrations are at the spectacular Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad. On the guest list are the who’s who of Corporate India and prominent names from the world of business and politics; since Rustom’s mother Zinia and uber-glamorous sister Farah (who is married to business baron Riyad Oomberbhoy) are popular figures in the society circuit, many society divas are expected to be there.
The Hussains hail from Lucknow and live in Mumbai’s most prestigious address—NCPA Apartments. Shazmeen was earlier married to film-maker Shaad Ali Sahgal of Bunty aur Babli and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom fame.

Nisarg Ramani, the scion of BRR Jewellers, one of the leading jewellery houses in Dubai is getting engaged to Nupur Sakaria from the illustrious Sagar Gold & Bullion Jewellers family, Mumbai. The engagement celebrations are on 20th and 21st December at the Sheraton Resort and Spa, Hua Hin, Thailand. The invite is an air ticket and over 300 guests are flying in from all over the world. Seven exotic theme functions will be held over two days, featuring creative talent and inspiration from different countries- Thailand, Romania, Egypt, Dubai, India and UK. The event is being managed by Dubai’s well-known Wedding Planner Rimjhim Bhagchandani.
The grand wedding and reception is in Mumbai next year, after which there will be a spectacular post-wedding ceremony in Dubai. Watch this space for more!

Many years ago, we met a very young Junelia when she was working with an international style apparel brand. We were struck by her grace and style and instantly knew the beautiful girl would make a mark in the world of fashion and style! Later, Junelia who also dabbled in acting & modelling, went on to study in UK and returned to her home town Mumbai, to embark on a career in styling and design. Today, Junelia runs her own studio in Bandra, where she custom-designs formal gowns, resort wear and Indian ensembles. She will soon retail in stores nation wide with her pret line. The designer is engaged to the pioneer of stand-up comedy in India, Ash Chandler. He is also an accomplished singer and actor with films like Mixed doubles, Guzaarish and Love Wrinkle free. We wish the charming to-be-weds luck with wedding planning and lots of happy years ahead.
