Riteish and Genelia’s Christian wedding was held at a Bandra Church the day after the Maharashtrian Wedding. The ceremony was a very private affair for close friends and family members only. Genelia wore a Shantanu & Nikhil gown and Riteish a black suit.
A day before the Maharashtrian l wedding, Genelia had a traditional East-Indian pre-wedding function, Umbracha Pani, at her home. In the ceremony, women of the family wear knee-length sarees and go dancing to a well to draw water.

Genelia wore a dark peach lehenga by designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock.

Riteish and Genelia had a traditional Maharashtrian Wedding at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. The baraat left Riteish’s Juhu residence at 11 am. Genelia’s parents and brothers waited at the venue to receive them. The wedding began at 12.48 pm, according to the pre-decided mahurat. Genelia looked lovely in a red Paithani saree designed by Neeta Lulla while Riteish wore a sherwani. The actor also tweeted his own wedding picture right after the ceremony was over.

The musical performances were planned and directed by Riteish’s close friend filmmaker Karan Johar and father Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh played the gracious host. Genelia looked resplendent in a white lehenga with peach embellishments and stone-work while Riteish Deshmukh looked every bit the dapper groom in a blue sherwani.

Actor Ash Chandler weds Junelia

Junelia is a Bandra-based designer. She specialises in elegant resort wear and gowns.

The pre-wedding function was held at a South Mumbai hotel and the traditional wedding celebrations were in Bandra on January 28. The bride arrived at the wedding venue in a Palanquin; Anil and Tina Ambani welcomed the guests at the entrance and present at the power wedding were several corporate heavy-weights, top politicos and Bollywood stars. The cuisine for the wedding was fully vegetarian– Bengali, Punjabi, Chinese, Thai, South Indian and Continental specialities and special Bengali desserts prepared by sweet-makers who came in specially from Kolkata.
Ghanshyam Sarda is the owner of Rs. 2,500 crore Sarda Group of Industries, one of West Bengals largest employers. Prerna was working with The Sarda Group. Abhinav Jhunjhunwala works with a Singapore-based firm.

Indo-US alliance, Mumbai artist weds US Diplomat’s son

Janavi Mahimtura, a budding artist from South Mumbai wed Chris Folmsbee at the Birla Krida Kendra in Chowpatty. Janavi’s mother interior & furniture designer Shahnaz Mahimtura is a well-known face in the elite circles of South Mumbai. Chris’ father, Paul Folmsbee was till recently the US Consul General in Mumbai. Chris, then 21 met Janavi in 2008 when he came to Mumbai on a holiday. They were introduced at a private party at the US Consulate itself and started dating soon after. Janavi then took up Chris’ offer to join him in Oklahoma, where he was pursuing his doctorate in law.

The engagement took place in January last year– a simple affair at the US Consul General’s regal residence then situated at Bhulabhai Desai Road. Chris and Janavi had two weddings- on July 30th 2011, at the 36th floor of the Chase Towers, at the Petroleum Club in Oklahoma City. The second wedding was on January 5th in Mumbai, an intimate traditional affair followed by a grand reception. Says Janavi: “One of the reasons we hosted the wedding at Thackers in Birla Krida Kendra, is because their vegetarian food is outstanding. Also the weather was beautiful, and the location perfect for an open-air reception. The decor was designed by my mum and the Wedding Planner Keyur Shah, simple floral arrangements, lots of white flowers with lights.” The couple bought their wedding ensembles from Sheetal@ Grand Road, Mumbai. Janavi’s reception outfit, a yellow net saree was from Aza, the multi-designer store at Altamount Road.

Model Anjali Raut weds in Chandigarh

Popular Mumbai Model Anjali Raut tied the knot with Akshaay Gill in his home-town Chandigarh. The functions included a Sangeet, the Wedding at the Gurudwara in Panchkula and a Reception. For the different functions, the half-Maharashtrian, half-Russian model wore colourful and traditional ensembles from bridal hot-spots like Benzer and Kalki in Mumbai.

Akshaay Gill runs his business in Singapore. Anjali has been working as a model in Mumbai since a few years. She met Akshaay in Singapore when she lived there, her father an employee of Air India was earlier posted there. Anjali’s sister is well-known Model Alesia Raut, and in Mumbai’s fashion circle both the sisters are much-liked for their modelling skills and pleasant disposition.
