Smile: Your best Accessory
Dec 15, 2009 Fashion & Bridal Wear
We always remember what businesswoman Manju Bhargava commented when we were with her at a wedding. The wedding was held a few years back, near Mumbai and the guests included the city’s richest businessmen and their wives, all dressed at their best. Manju quipped: “Indians spend so much on clothes and jewelkery, if only they could spend a fraction of it on getting a better smile.” Her comments were very relevant not because she is associated with Mumbai’s exclusive Chicago Center for Dentistry, but because we felt there was a big disconnect, between the guests perfect accessories and their imperfect smile. Don’t you agree with Manju, that it makes so much sense to work on a smile as a best accessory, instead of hoarding more and more material accessories?

This wedding season, a large majority of the clientele at the Chicago Center are brides, grooms and their families. Some of the popular treatments at the Chicago Center include teeth whitening, smile design to correct crooked teeth, unseemly gaps and a gummy smile; and for the fashionista they have diamond studded teeth. Explains Bhargava: “Some fashion-obsessed brides are getting a diamond (artificial and made out of non-toxic material) or even a colored stone (ruby) fixed on one or two front teeth—to match their diamond studded or colorful clothes.” We sure like to see Perfect White Smiles, but diamond studded Dazzling Smiles? We’d prefer the simplicity of the former.
