Mehul Choksi’s daughter weds in Jodhpur

Priyanka, daughter of Jewellery King Mehul Choksi (of Gitanjali Group) got married to Akash Mehta in Jodhpur. The six-day affair managed by Percept D’Mark (PDM) was spread over three days at Turf Club Mumbai and three days in Jodhpur.
The Mehendi, Sangeet and Wedding of Priyanka, who heads A.Jaffe in India, and Akash, an Antwerp-based diamond merchant were held at Mehrangarh Fort and Umaid Bhavan between December 18th and December 20th. Noted singer Ila Arun regaled the audiences at the Mehendi and Ace musicians Ayaan & Amaan Ali and Sonu Nigam performed at the Wedding. Priyanka glittered in the most ornate diamond jewellery and wore stunning lehengas by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. All the functions were photographed and videographed by Delhi-based celebrity wedding filmmaker Bankim Jain.
Mehul Choksi spoke to WeddingSutra: “PDM are excellent Wedding Managers so I didn’t have to worry much about Wedding Planning and execution. The Taj group who manage hospitality & catering at Mehrangarh Fort and Umaid Bhavan offer the most amazing wedding services. So in the end, it was the most memorable and stress-free affair.”

No, Queenie Dhody is not getting married. The Style Diva is set to launch a new Wedding-related business in association with Gitanjali Lifestyle. The venture will offer Makeovers to Brides-to-be and Wedding Planning services to Brides, Grooms and their families. Says Mumbai’s Fashion Icon: “Wedding Planning is an Art—and I enjoy the creative process of organising parties and entertaining. While I wouldn’t enjoy organising parties for individuals or corporate houses, I’d love to help families plan and organise the most important day of their lives.” She adds: “But what I enjoy most is giving women a complete makeover— they are so excited to experience something that will give them an all-new look”.
The multi-faceted Queenie’s tryst with style began when she started modelling in her teenage years. In the last decade or so, the former Beauty Queen has dabbled in several style-related endeavours—in 2004 she ventured into the business of skin care and started Skin Essence, a therapeutic skin care line formulated by South Mumbai’s best-kept secret dermatologist Dr Dinyar Workingboxwalla. Around the same time, she worked on the Makeover of Sony TV’s popular star ‘Jassi’ in ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’. Last year, she opened her store ‘Jewels by Queenie’ and more recently launched a new jewellery line with Gitanjali Lifestyle. She also writes on Fashion & Style for select publications.
With all her work, style and social commitments, how will Page 3’s favourite face find time to meet and design solutions for time-pressed Brides and their families? “Jewellery designing will continue to be my main profession, and for the new makeover and marriage venture, I’ll have with me a team who will take care of execution—so I can concentrate on the style and creative ideas bit”, says Queenie emphasising that her Wedding services will suit clients with varied budgets and style interests. “Me and Mehul Choksi of Gitanjali Lifestyle, will soon announce details on our offering and the customer experience; but clearly our services will not be for super-rich brides or their families alone”

A few weeks ago, Mehul Choksi, Chairman of Gitanjali Group in an interview to WeddingSutra had announced his daughter Priyanka’s marriage to Antwerp-based Akash Mehta. His to-be-wed daughter is in the news again, she has just launched her own entrepreneurial venture. Priyanka, has brought to India A.Jaffe, New York’s most sought-after luxury bridal brand and one of America’s oldest bridal jewellery manufacturers. A.Jaffe’s flagship store on Hughes Road, Mumbai will retail Engagement, Wedding and Anniversary rings.
Priyanka herself wears an A.Jaffe engagement ring. What else is the privileged princess picking for her trousseau? “All my wedding wear will be designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. For jewellery shopping I’m planning to visit Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hyderabad.” She adds: “I’m an accessory freak too—Malaga clutches are my favorite, and the other accessory brands I usually pick when travelling abroad are Chloe, Chanel, Fendi and Jimmy Choo.” And where does she plan to take her fiance for his wedding shopping? “His wear for the different functions may be a mix from different designers– Abu-Sandeep, Raghuvendra Rathore and Krishna Mehta”, she says.

Mehul Choksi, India’s most flamboyant jeweller is in Jodhpur, where his beautiful daughter Priyanka will tie the knot. The Chairman of Gitanjali Group spoke to WeddingSutra: “Priyanka is marrying Antwerp-based Akash Mehta in December. I’m in Jodhpur to finalise all details with the venues and Wizcraft, the Wedding Planners.”
It’s sure to be the most magnificent wedding, since the workaholic Choksi is so passionate about Events and Exclusive Shows, Food and Fashion. The maverick business magnate has built and owns some of India’s most fashionable jewellery brands- Nakshatra, D’Damas, Gilli, Asmi, Gold Expressions and Vivaha Gold. Choksi loves his Ascot Chang tailored suits and food is his big weakness—Mumbai street specialities, Masala Dosa and Cheese Pizzas being his favourites. The first question we asked Choksi a strict vegetarian and teetotaller, is who the wedding chefs will be. He responds: “We are yet to finalise the menu and chef details. But the decor and sets will be done by Bollywood’s Art Director Omung Kumar”. The mastermind behind many a fabulous set for films like Saawariya, Black and Ishq Vishk, Omung Kumar is one of the most sought-after production and set designers in Bollywood. He has also designed the sets for several reality shows on television, and his most recent work is the production and stage design for Kingdom of Dreams, India’s first live entertainment and leisure destination in Gurgaon, Haryana.
Priyanka is Priti and Mehul Choksi’s eldest child. An alumni of Columbia University she has been working with the Gitanjali Group since last year. Her siblings are Rohan who is at Purdue University and Maitreyi who is studying in Mumbai.
