Designer Nikasha Tawadey to wed in Jodhpur
Mar 13, 2011 Celeb Weddings to Watch out for
Nikasha Tawadey, one of the most popular designers for relaxed Bridal wear, is tying the knot. The grooms name is Gaurang Khemka and the intimate wedding celebrations are on 25th and 26th March at Khimsar Fort, the amazing fort hotel run by WelcomHeritage near Jodhpur.

Nikasha is wearing her own creations for all the wedding functions. She says: “Since we’re having an intimate wedding with 150 people only, I’m not too stressed with the preparations but busier with giving the last-minute touches to the wedding wear—not just mine, but for all my near and dear ones”. Her flouncy, feminine and pretty creations in fabrics like Benaras silk, chanderi, mul, chiffon and georgette, focus more on the texture and vibrancy of its colors with less emphasis on embroidery.
Gaurang, an architect works in Singapore. Nikasha, who is half-Maharashtrian, half-Bengali pursued her studies in Delhi and relocated to Mumbai a few years ago. A psychology graduate from Convent of Jesus and Mary, Delhi, Nikasha was training to be a psychoanalyst before she decided to pursue fashion as a career. Her store is in Linking Road, Mumbai and she has just opened her second store Delhi. “I’ll be relocating to Singapore but will travel to Mumbai and Delhi frequently, with plans to open another store in Singapore by the end of the year”, she says

Raizada’s Wedding Weekend in Goa
Jun 1, 2010 Celeb Weddings to Watch out for, Destination Weddings
When we learnt Vikram Raizada, Director of Tara Jewels is marrying, the first question we asked was about the engagement ring he is gifting his fiancé, Investment Banker Nisha Khetan. “I spent a bit of time thinking about the ring for Nisha, not because we are clued-in to jewelry and fashion trends, but because I wanted to gift her a timeless creation, one which she’ll hopefully enjoy and appreciate for years.” He adds: “Its a vintage moderne style ring designed by my colleague Alpana at Tara Jewels—the solitaire white gold ring has an antique and classic-modern look.”
Vikram and Nisha who met through a common friend in Pune, some years ago, chose to marry at the Park Hyatt, Goa because it is one of their favourite hotels and Goa is one of their favourite destinations. The half Kashmiri-half Bengali groom and Marwari bride tell us more about their wedding plans: “On 3rd July we’re having a traditional Hindu ceremony. Before and after the wedding we’ll have the ‘spirited’ celebrations typical of Goa so that the 100 odd close friends and family guests can chill, relax and enjoy the wedding weekend.”
Since Vikram has had a close association with Fashion, we were curious to know what he’s wearing. “I really haven’t done any window shopping so to speak. My wedding outfit is being designed by my good friend Arjun Khanna. Another outfit for a different function is being designed by Troy Costa”, says Vikram who was earlier the Head of Fashion at International Management Group (IMG) which manages Lakme Fashion Week. Nisha’s trousseau is being designed by young, talented Mumbai designer Nikasha Tawadey.

Nikasha’s Resort Wedding Collection at LFW
Mar 8, 2010 Fashion & Bridal Wear
Summer brides are gonna love this. Nikasha Tawadey’s collection for LFW Summer/ Resort 2010 took us to a beach resort for a relaxed/ fun wedding. Inspired by the pretty flower Siuli, which blooms at night, and woven around a romantic legend about the tree, the collection was feminine and floral. Nikasha used Benaras silk, chanderi, mul, chiffon and georgette to create charming outfits in shades of Pitambari yellow, haldi, red, rust and coral. Whats there not to love about this collection – chikan work with antique mukaish and Karchobi , an eclectic mix of silhouettes, asymmetric hemlines where you least expect them and the use of ghungroo in accessories.
Our top pick: The orange ‘n’ cream lehenga with its polka dots, sparkle-tinged ruffles and floral dupatta – so flouncy, feminine and pretty!
