Sania Shoaib Walima in Lahore

For her Walima ceremony in Lahore, Sania was seen in yet another Shantanu-Nikhil lehenga, in what seems like a gorgeous powder blue shade. The lehenga however pales in comparison with her Sialkot reception ensemble! Shoaib, on the other hand, looked quite dapper. Gotta say they do look good together.

Sania and Shoaib’s Reception in Sialkot

Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik’s wedding reception in Sialkot, Pakistan on 25th April was a grand affair. And what can we say, we lurve Sania’s look. Everything felt just right – her makeup, jewellery, the studded clutch and the beautiful red embroidered lehenga designed by Shantanu and Nikhil.

Sania Shoaib Wedding

Many of our readers wrote in asking if we are going to do a post on Sania’s wedding. She has been all over media for all kinds of reason, that we felt we would write once all the tamasha was over.  The tennis star and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik married in a private Nikaah ceremony in Hyderabad. Sania wore a red saree that her mother had worn 25 years ago for her own nikah. Shoaib wore a black sherwani which was made by Shantanu and Nikhil.

For the Sangeet, Sania chose a pink suit by Shantanu-Nikhil while Shoaib wore a white sherwani. For the grand reception, Sania wore a red-and-gold khara dupatta set against cream background – this outfit is traditionally worn by Hyderabadi Muslim brides. The groom’s cream sherwani was a perfect match to her bride’s glittering ensemble.

We wish the happy couple a beautiful life together.

Weddings to Watch out for

Sania to wear Shantanu-Nikhil creations for all her wedding functions; Laila Khan weds Farhan Furniturewala on April 16th; Manisha Koirala to marry in Kathmandu in June.

Everyone loved the gorgeous green outfit Shantanu-Nikhil designed for Sania’s engagement last year. It’s a different story that the engagement broke up, and Sania is marrying someone else; but she’s sticking to the same designer—Delhi-based Shantanu Nikhil. For her wedding reception at Taj Krishna in Hyderabad on April 15, the designer duo have designed a churidar kurta with a khada dupatta—a very Hyderabadi way of taking the typical nine-yards odhni. And for the walima (reception) in Lahore on 17th, they have designed a lehenga in neutral and pastel shades, since Sania is very fond of vintage shades like maroon and emerald greens. The designers are designing Shoaib Malik’s black sherwani and Sania’s mothers outfits too.

There’s buzz about the wedding of two other high profile bollywood personalities– Laila Khan and Manisha Koirala. Laila Khan (Fardeen Khan’s sister) got formally engaged to Farhan Furniturewala and the wedding is on April 16th. The family has kept all the details on the wedding under wraps. This is the second marriage for both. Earlier Laila was married to Delhi businessman Rohit Rajpal while Farhan was married to actress Pooja Bedi.

Manisha Koirala is reportedly marrying Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal in Kathmandu on June 19. Samrat has studied in the US and his father Surendra Dahal runs a hugely successful leather business in Kathmandu.

Knot in 2010?

Some high profile couples are engaged and everyone wants to see them get married. We too are very curious about the when and where. But the couples are in no hurry to get married. Sportstar Sania Mirza- Muhammed Mirza, telly actors Nisha Rawal-Karan Mehra, actor Neil Nitin Mukesh- designer Priyanka Bhatia.

Quips the stunningly beautiful Nisha Rawal: “We may get married in 2011 only—we haven’t even thought about the wedding details yet since work is keeping us busy.”

Sania Mirza has announced that she will quit active sports post marriage. Post her high profile engagement where she wore an exquisite Shantanu-Nikhil creation, everyone is curious to know the when and where details on the wedding. Sania’s response to the media is on the lines of: “Only after some time, maybe next year”,

Sources say Bollywood star Neil Nitin Mukesh is unofficially engaged to designer Priyanka Bhatia but in a just-published interview he states it’s too premature to say he’s tying the knot this year. The low profile Priyanka is an alumnus of Walsingham House School and Jai Hind College. She stays close to Neil, in Malabar Hill and runs a boutique in Peddar Road.

Actor Kushal Punjabi who got engaged to model turned actress Meghana Naidu told WeddingSutra that his wedding will be in late 2010 or early 2011. “We’ll finalise the details in a month’s time”, he quips.
