Designer Puneet Nanda of label ‘Satya Paul’ drew inspiration from famed tarot symbols like Empress, Lovers, Wands and Chariots for his bridal collection for Lakme Fashion Week Festive/Winter 2010. For us it was a mixed big with some gorgeous sarees especially the blue toned silk sari with dazzling border and long sleeved black net choli that Shruti Haasan walked the ramp in. And then there were some that brought back happy memories of Madhuri Dixit dancing to “Didi Tera Dewar…”!!

Satya Paul and Manish Malhotra Show in South Africa

Leading designers Satya Paul and Manish Malhotra brought indian fashion to South Africa with their latest collections at the India Show. Manish Malhotra’s collection titled ‘Celebrations’ was inspired by various eras from the Mughal period to the Rajasthan royalty to contemporary bridal wear. Set in jewel tones and luxurious fabrics like velvets, antique brocades, the collection amalgamates traditional zardosi and thread work with saris, anarkalis, shararas and interpretations of these classics. What can we say, the collection was lustworthy.
Satya Paul’s collection “Zen, Zest, Zip, Zap and Zing” , on the other hand, was, hmm, interesting with plenty of prints and embroidered textures.
Except for these monstrosities! How did these “things” get on the ramp?

Exquisite Sarees and Lehengas from Satya Paul at LFW

The collections of exquisite saris, lehengas and dresses was everything you would expect from the label and the Bollywood stars on the ramp added to the glamour of the fabulous Satya Paul show on Women’s Day at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2010.
The Sarees and Lehengas designed by Puneet Nanda in organza, voile, georgette, crepe, satin, net, chiffon and brocade had the right touches of embellishments as mirror work twinkled and chikan work and aari embroidery, sequins and prints.
The showstopper bridal outfits were seen on Amruta Patki, Miss India Earth 2006, wearing a full gold and crystal lehenga, choli and lush dupatta and Sara Jane Dias, Miss India World 2007, in a fiery red crepe sari sparkling with stunning embroidery and bustier.
