We know you're busy managing office and your trousseau shopping, but don't forget about the most important thing of all -- YOU! A few short months is plenty of time. Blossom Kochhar prepares an aromatherapy regime to make you look radiant and relaxed for your bigday.


Week - I: Detoxification

Detoxification involves removal of all toxins from the body, internally and externally.

Hair :

During the four weeks of this treatment it is recommended that the hair drier be abandoned. Your hair will be at the receiving end of the onslaught of this 'natural elements destroyer' very frequently during the first few months after marriage. So strengthen your hair and use these four weeks to making it healthier.
A head massage with hot oil - a mixture of caster oil, sunflower almond oil and coconut oil in equal measure, infused with a few drops of an essential oil like ylang ylang, is known to be good for the hair and acts as an aphrodisiac.
Glycerin and with malt vinegar are also added to balances the acid content in the hair. This massage, followed by a hot towel wrap, helps the oil to penetrate into the scalp.

Face :

A pearl facial will exfoliate and clear your skin of all blemishes. Pearl has excellent detoxifying properties - it deep cleanses and is known to be very cooling.

Hands and feet :

On each visit to the Aromatherapist, a manicure and pedicure is de rigeur. The pedicure involves using a wax pack to remove dead skin, soothe cracked heels and soften your feet.
Soak your feet in warm water to which rock salt, lime juice and shampoo have been added. After a good long soak, scrub the feet and apply night cream before going to bed. The following morning, application of a moisturizer on the feet after a bath is advised. Start the nail cultivation therapy as well. Apply a coat of transparent nail polish every day for a week until you go back for your next manicure and pedicure.

Diet :

The prescribed diet will include a drink comprising of honey and lime juice added to hot water every morning. Stick to a fruit or vegetable diet for at least two days every week.
It is best to eat a pure vegetarian diet during this first week of detoxification. Consuming a minimum of eight to ten glasses of water every day will be beneficial.

Body :

The Aromatherapy massage commences with an exfoliating mudpack applied on your body. It is scrubbed off when semi-dry, with special emphasis on the elbows, knees and all corners of the body. This get rids of all the dead skin.The seaweed wrap known for its exfoliating properties is the next on the plan.
Meditate and breathe deeply. Inhale to the count of seven, hold for a count of one and exhale to the count of seven. Gradually advance to inhaling to the count of seven, and holding for a count of three and exhaling to the count of seven. Physical exercise to activate a healthy blood circulation is must.


Week - II: Remineralisation
Detoxified and cleansed, the body is ready for re-mineralizing and replenishing the body with minerals lost during the detoxification process.2
Hair :

A hot oil massage, followed by a hot towel wrap is suggested.

Face :

Light cleansing, followed by a vitamin E cream and seaweed gel massage. A fruit pack of mashed seasonal fruit and milk powder. A papaya face pack is excellent for dry skin.

Hands and feet : Continue the procedure advised for the first week.
Diet :

Emphasis on fruit and vegetables to pump extra minerals into the body are recommended.

Body :

After going through the aromatherapy massage, enjoy a re-mineralizing wrap of Arctic Algae. Apply the body pack of mashed bananas mixed with honey and milk powder which is ideally left on for 30 minutes and washed off.
Longer, deeper breathing is recommended along with stepping up the exercise regimen. Addition of vegetable oil and few drops of essential oil in your bath water are suggested.


Week - III: Rejuvenation

With D-day almost there - it's time for rejuvenation. This is the process designed to bestow the quintessential glow.

Hair :

It's the hot oil head massage again. By now, the hair will have become healthy and strong.

Face :

This is the time to indulge in a silver facial and experience its excellent rejuvenating properties.

Hands and feet : Manicuring and pedicuring should have made the nails growing healthy and strong by now!
Diet : The diet is stepped up to include cereals and nuts. Eating six blanched almonds every morning to rejuvenate the skin and drinking milk mixed with saffron strands helps the body to glow.

Body :

A few drops of essential oils - jasmine, patchouli, ylang ylang or rose are added to the base carrier oil in your massage medium. Known to have an aphrodisiac effect, the essential oils also relax you.
A body pack of honey and milk (known to have excellent rejuvenating properties) is applied. For dry skin, use of a yogurt, honey and rosewater pack gives the body a radiant glow.
Meditation and exercise should be a routine by now.


Week -IV: Special Radiance Week
This is the week when the last few weeks' effort peaks in result and creates your 'Very own special radiance week'
Face : The gold facial gives the finishing touch to the glow.
Diet :

A high protein diet with a generous dose of nuts is recommended.

Body :

Almond oil with a few relevant essential oils form the base ingredient of the massage medium. A sandalwood body pack with honey, milk, jasmine oil, rose oil, orange peel and a tablespoon of almond oil are mixed with sandalwood powder is prepared and applied.
Visit the Aromatherapist two days before your big day for a Body Aromatherapy Waxing in which first a pre-waxing aromatherapy lotion is applied to soften the hair and is kept on for 10 minutes. Then follows waxing with aromatherapy wax. If someone is particular about bringing their own wax, a few drops of lavender or tea tree oil are added to it, to minimize the risk of rashes. A few drops of tea tree oil are also added to the after used for cleaning the body and as an antiseptic after waxing.

You are at the end of this four-week regime as ready as any bride can ever be to look her radiant best.
