Leena Datthi works with CitiFinancial – Citigroup as a Product Manager. Her husband Abhishek Dadlani is into the metal sheet fabrication business and runs his factory in Hyderabad. Their wedding and reception took place in May 2007 in Hyderabad and pre-wedding functions in New Delhi.

Pre wedding & wedding ceremonies
“I was least nervous about my wedding look, as I knew I was in best hands. My mother-in-law, Renu Dadlani, a well-known fashion designer works with timeless hand embroideries like Lucknawi, Parsi Gara and Kashmiri, and was designing all the stuff I needed to wear for the different functions.”

For the roka ceremony, I was dressed in a peach colour crinkled tissue flowing gagra combined with a long tunic with chikan and gotta work and a matching dupatta. Susan who worked with Ambika Pillai did my make up and hairstyle. She gave me double French with straight hair open that was just apt for the dress I was wearing.

For the Sangeet I opted for an Indo-Western outfit-- a beige and gold ankle-length skirt with gold embroidery and embellished with antique work. I combined it with a blouse and a gold stole.

Since I am a South Indian, I wanted to give a South Indian touch to all the ceremonies. I was draped in a red Kanjivaram Silk Saree. Abhishek wore a designer maroon angarakha with gold chikan and antique sequins combined with a gold dhoti. The make-up this time was done by the Lakme team, who proved to be the best at their business.

For the wedding reception my mother-in-law designed a stunning magenta pink chikankari lehnga filled with embroidery in multi shades and with green antique borders. To go with it, she had designed a heavy dupatta and choli embellished with Swarovski, beads and stonets. Till date I feel that it was one of the most stunning wedding outfits I have ever seen.

My advice for Brides-to-be
Don't let your dreams just be just dreams, let them come alive! All you need is a bit of planning and leave the small details to a good designer. I was of course lucky to have a mother-in-law. But for others, look for the best and look the best....
