| Prithviraj, a leading movie star from the South tied the knot with BBC
journalist Supriya Menon at Palakkad in Kerala on 25th April, 2011. A
week after the wedding, the newly-weds hosted their wedding reception
at Le Meridien Kochi.
Supriya who studied in Delhi, lives in Mumbai, and prior to joining
BBC as a business correspondent she worked with Tehelka and NDTV.
Prithviraj hails from a family of highly talented actors and he has
acted in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. He will soon make his
debut in Hindi films in an Anurag Kashyap film opposite Rani Mukerjee.
Supriya Menon spoke to WeddingSutra.
Private Wedding & Grand Reception
"We were very clear that our wedding will be a very private affair,
where all of us could feel comfortable. So ours was actually a secret
wedding. My parents and family live in Palakkad, and our wedding venue
was Kandath Tharavadu, a 200 year old heritage resort. It's a fairly
inaccessible venue, and we also hired a lot of security personnel to
ensure the wedding was an intimate affair. A few press people got to
know about the wedding and landed up at the wedding venue, so my
mother-in-law requested them to respect our wishes,
and attend the reception in Kochi instead.
The reception was held on the lawns of Le Meridien, Kochi and was
managed by Impressario, a Kochi-based Event Management company. Over
5,000 friends, acquaintances and media people attended the evening.

Wedding Wear
For the wedding ceremony, we both wore traditional creations and for
the reception it was Sabyasachi outfits for both. We love his style
and work, and he and Prithviraj have worked together earlier, since
Sabya designed the costumes for the film Raavan which starred
Prithviraj.

Wedding Shopping
Sabyasachi is my favourite designer, but when it comes to traditional
sarees I love shopping at Nallis, Kumarans and Avarna. For embroidered
sarees I visited Delhi's Meena Bazaar and Anarkali Bazaar (Chandni
Chowk). For jewellery buys, I recommend Prince Jewellery in Chennai
and TBZ, Mumbai.
Supriya is on a six months sabbatical and will rejoin work at BBC in
Mumbai. Prithviraj's work and film shoots require him to travel most
of the time, but his base is in the South. "But we'll try our best to
schedule our work and lives, so we can be together every week-end",
explains Supriya who is now getting used to being interviewed as a
Celebrity star's wife. "It's quite a change being on the other side,
because as a journalist, I was always asking questions, now I have to
answer questions."
