The beautiful
model Nayonika Chatterjee married
actormodel Gurpreet Singh on
January 4, 2001 in Delhi.
About Nayonika
She is often referred to as India's Naomi Campbell. And is the first choice
for most leading fashion designers who consider a fashion show incomplete
without her ramp presence. Such is the magic of Nayonika Chatterjee who
can carry international garments with the same élan as the Indian
sari.
About Gurpeet Singh
The Punjabi munda, an actor and a model, is best known for his performances
in Neena Guptas Dard and Pal Chhin.
How they Met
Introduced by a common friend, they soon became great friends. "You
can say it was love at first sight", says Gurpreet. They dated for
quite a while (twelve years!!), even called off the wedding twice, after
which they decided to take the final plunge.

The Wedding
took place in a Gurudwara in New Delhi followed by lunch at the Infantry
Mess in Delhi. There was a Wedding reception at the Delhi Gymkhana and a
second Wedding reception at Calcutta too. The menu at the Wedding was a
typical Punjabi one, with booze and lots of non-veg food. There was no theme
at any of the functions. The mood was festive, as in any wedding. "The
theme was to have fun", quips Nayonika.
What They Wore
The gorgeous Nayonika wore a pink colour Salwar Kameez designed by Rohit
Bal. For the reception at Calcutta, she wore a Ritu Kumar saree, a red one
with very traditional golden embroidery. Gurpreet Singh wore a white colour
Sherwani, which he designed himself. His pink pagdi matched well with his
Sherwani and his brides Salwar. For the reception he wore a black colour
Suit. 
The Guests
The close friends who attended the celebrations included actress Pooja Batra,
Designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Dhiren Shah of Sheetal fame, Jodhpurs
Raghavendra Rathore, beauty diva Ambika Pillai and Mumbai models Rajlaxmi
and Inder Sudan. |
