Wedding
Plans
I
was the lucky bride, since my groom and his event
management
company Partylines were too keen to manage all the wedding
arrangements. So I had the luxury of focusing all my attention on
my wedding day look.
AD’s secret
desire was to get married in a Church. The beautiful structures of
the institution and the images of a Church wedding in movies
always held a special place in his mind. But since that was not
feasible, we opted for another peaceful locale- a 260 year old
bunglow alongside the sea in Goa.
Invitations
Mario Miranda, the famous cartoonist who lives in Goa,
designed our wedding invitations. It was designed like a
chronicle/ newspaper. The front page had a cartoon of a man
lying on a hammock reading the newspaper, the headline of which
read “AD Weds
Sabina”. The inside pages of the invite had more pages detailing
the various functions
in a cartoon form. Since the first venue was
a beach, it depicted beach girls running around, the second
function being at Taj village lawns, had a band playing in the
backdrop and the page on the wedding showed a Portugese house. The
dress code mentioned was 'cool smart' since we didn’t expect
guests to let their hair down in suits or sarees.
