Weddingsutra.com: Diary of a Bride - Neetu Hemnani

The Wedding Day Experience
The wedding day experience was fantastic and even hilarious. The wedding stage was put up in the middle of the waters. In North Indian weddings, the groom usually arrives in a horse, a concept that never appealed to AD. So he reached the wedding venue by boat.

The best part was that the Panditji who was supposed to perform the wedding never turned up. The mahurat time was passing by and Panditji couldn’t be found. The organizing team went running in all directions to look for a Hindu Pandit.  Finally they found a person wearing a dhoti who clarified that he was a Hindu Pandit. When he started chanting the shlokas we realized they were in Tamil, and he was a Tamilian. So two North Indians ended up having a South Indian wedding ceremony. But this whole episode was fun since it had an element of spontaneity that is in our nature.
