How
They Met
Manmeet saw
Karishma on the TV serial Rishtey. He was instantly
attracted to her and took her number from the director.
“On first conversation, it appeared she had loads of
attitude but after few brief meetings I realized I was
wrong. We exchanged some SMS messages after which we
went on a movie date. That was the beginning of our love
story.”
The
Engagement
On June 16th 2002, exactly
a year after their first meeting, Karishma and Manmeet
got engaged at The Orchid, Mumbai. It was a huge
gathering of over 300 guests who included their
relatives, friends, and professional acquaintances like
models and TV stars. Karishma wore a golden saree
presented by her mother-in-law and Manmeet wore an
Indo-western outfit by designer Anshu.
The
Wedding Day Look
A few years back Karishma modeled for a Seema Roy show
in Pune where she wore the final outfit in the last
sequence. “It was a red bridal lehenga and wearing it
was a scintillating experience. So I decided for my
wedding I would again wear a red lehenga, designed by
Seema aunty (Seema Roy).”
Almost
all of Karishma’s and Manmeet’s outfits were
designed by Seema Roy. “I left everything to Seema
aunty, the shoes, jewellery and colors for my make-up.
My needs were a little unique. I was marrying into a
Sikh family and showing off skin was a no-no, so I
wanted a mix of the trendy and the conservative. So
Seema aunty gave the modern touches with transparent
sleeves and for jewellery she helped me select kundan
jewellery with coloured gemstones.”
