About
the Couple
 Parmjeet
graduated from California State University Fresno and is
currently working as an IT professional in bay area,
California. Satwinder, a veterinary doctor from Chicago,
IL, will soon be treating animals in CA. "We are
both Jat Sikhs originally from Punjab and are thankful
to our families for being incredibly supportive in our
marriage."
How
We Met
"It was a
summer day in June 2001 when I met Satwinder. It started
with a matrimonial ad, inserted by Satwinder father. My
father read it, spoke to his dad a couple of times, got
Satwinder's email address and I wrote to him. We
exchanged pictures and then spoke on phone for ten
minutes. After talking, he sent an email saying, it was
very nice talking to you, and it didn't feel as if I was
talking to a stranger. We talked every day for a couple
of weeks, and would give a daily update to our parents.
Satwinder then flew down to California to meet me. I
remember his first words. "You are more beautiful
than you look on picture". Our date went well, we
got to know each other
and soon realized that  we
liked each other. Our parents then decided on an
engagement date.
Our
Engagement
"Our engagement was
in Chicago, IL on Saturday September 7th, 2002. I flew
to Chicago with my family on the day of the ceremony. It
was conducted in a club house near Satwinder's place.
After the Sagan and Chunni rituals we exchanged
sparkling diamond rings and Satwinder's beautiful nieces
danced on to Hindi songs.
Our
Wedding
 A
sikh Punjabi wedding was held on January 18th, 2003. It
was a religious Sikh wedding ceremony in a Gurdwara
Sahib with about 200 guests. A lunch was held
immediately after the ceremony. The wedding decorations
and flowers in the gurdwara sahib were in peach and
ivory to match our wedding outfits.
