One of India's most popular film families-the Kapoors-celebrated Riddhima's wedding in a style that truly characterized 'Mumbai's Bollywood clan meets Delhi's Upper Crust'. Rishi and Neetu Kapoor's daughter Riddhima wed Delhi based garment exporter Bharat Sawhney on January 25th, 2006-they met while studying in London and after a three year courtship decided to tie the knot.

Week long celebrations in Mumbai and Delhi
The week-long gala began with the Maata ki chowki- a family affair- at Krishna Raj (Rishi Kapoor's Pali Hill residence named after his mum and dad). The next day was the engagement and sangeet at JW Marriott in Juhu. The Mehendi was on Jan 24 at RK Studios (the late Raj Kapoor's studio and residence in Chembur) followed by a cocktail dinner at Mumbai's Inter Continental Grand. The shaadi was held on Jan 25th at the ITC Grand Marathi with 1000 plus guests in attendance. Riddhima and Bharat arrived in Delhi on 26th and there was a grand reception for the newly-weds at a Chattarpur farmhouse on January 26th. After the hectic celebrations, Riddhima and Bharat left for a month-long honeymoon to Australia and New Zealand.

Fashion graduate Riddhima opts for Abu-Sandeep
Riddhima may have a degree in fashion but she preferred to rely on the talent of big names like Abu Jani, Tarun Tahiliani and Rohit Bal for her wedding wear. Abu Jani designed Riddhima's trousseau-classic lehengas with a modern touch and a saree for the reception. For the jewellery, Riddhima wore heirlooms passed on by her mom Neetu Singh who also wore an ensemble from Abu Jani. Father Rishi Kapoor and the groom wore Rohit Bal sherwanis.

Kebabs and more
Famous chef Mohd Ishtiyuaque Qureshi prepared the Kapoor family's favourite dishes for the functions. For the Mata ki chowki there was a choice of 40 plus kebabs. For the Mehendi there was a Lucknowi spread. For the wedding, dishes from the ITC Maratha restaurants, Dumpukht and Peshawar were served.
