Invitation
The Mittals' invitation book was a deeply personal family tribute to the power of love and
their hopes for Vanisha. The elaborate 20- page booklet with hand painted images and
description of the various venues and functions was accompanied by an equally exquisite
creation- an intricately carved 5 kg silver centerpiece. The card, which guests received
in a box, had pictures of the happy couple entwined in elliptical frames. Some of the
pages carried romantic poems- one by Shelley, another by Rumi, and a third set of verses
by Megha Mittal (Vanisha's brother's wife).

The Trousseau
Three top Indian designers were roped in to do the trousseau for the high-profile wedding.
A yellow lehenga for the doli night came from Tarun Tahiliani. Outfits for Sangeet, Mehndi
and Bollywood nite for the Mittal family is by Suneet Verma including a crystal-studded
sherwani for the groom. The colours Ive worked with for the
Mittal family range from blue and red to pink. We did several fabric developments to make
it look special. Vanisha works out, so she is in great shape. Shes used to wearing
the best and appreciates quality, says Varma. Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla designed
15 outfits for the trousseau.
For the groom, the thrust is on
light and subtle hues. Tarun Tahiliani created Chikan kurta with shadow and jaali patterns
for the groom for the Mehendi ceremony. Besides, the groom's collection, the trousseau for
Vanisha, to be sent as a gift by the Bhatias also has a heavy Lakhnawi influence.
Lehenga cholis to complement
the blushing bride being styled by Pallavi Jaikishen will have Awadhi undertones. Shining
bright is a red and yellow lehenga with hand-embroidered Chikan murri work and sequins for
the Mehendi ceremony. A blue sari with blue Lakhnawi mokaish work and a matching bag are
part of the bridal designer-wear.
