Tell us how you got into Wedding Photography? |
|
| |
My family has been in the photography business, for a long time, which
is how I got into the field. My tryst with photography began at a very
young age. I used to accompany my elder brother Raviraj Zingade to
photo shoots to help him with the set-ups. After graduating from
Symbiosis College, I moved to Mumbai to pursue a one year course in
photography at Girish Mistry’s academy.

How has Wedding Photography changed over the years? |
|
| |
The big change has been in the involvement of youngsters i.e. the
bride and groom and their siblings. Youngsters like to spend more time
briefing photographers on what they expect to see. Earlier when we
interacted typically with elders, it was talking more about the
commercials and tangible deliverables. |

What are the new demands from Wedding customers? |
|
| |
Besides great photographs, wedding families are always interested in
learning about how they can preserve the beautiful memories— in
formats other than the traditional albums. So they are happy when they
see new, innovative print formats—like calendars, cards or photo
books. |

Which functions or moments of the Great Indian Wedding, interest you most? |
|
| |
I really look forward to capturing the joy and happiness in the
Bride’s fathers face—just after the wedding, and the Bidaai, the time
when the girl leaves the house, quite often a tearful moment. For
anyone who is a people’s person, wedding photography is a great
profession! There is never a dull moment, because there are myriad
emotions at a wedding; every family member, and every guest express
different emotions; capturing it is a beautiful challenge and a great
joy.

How has life changed after you received the Kodak Better Photography Wedding
Photographer of the Year award? |
|
| |
| So much has changed! It’s not just the attention I get from friends
and neighbours, it’s the improved attention I get from potential
clients. Now they are more interested in knowing more about my work
and understanding how I can help create for them, a compilation of the
most beautiful moments. Since I won the Award in the ‘Emotions’
category, a lot more clients are taking interest in ‘candid moments’
and are briefing me to limit the ‘posed’ shots —and capture more
‘candid moments’. |
