 EXPENSIVE SUITES

Money can't buy you love, but it sure can set the mood. WeddingSutra.com shows your 10 of the world's most expensive hotel suites.

Coco Chanel Suite, Hotel Ritz, Paris
Location: Paris, France
Whats Hot: Furnished in the inimitable style of the famous designer

Intimacy. If this suite had to be summed up in one word, this would be it. Coco Chanel made the Ritz her home for 37 years, during which she resided in three rooms overlooking the Place Vendôme. Guests can relish the same garden view from Chanel's bathroom and gaze upon the Place Vendôme from one of her two balconies. The hotel is located in the heart of Paris near the Louvre and the Museé d'Orsay. And with a history that dates back more than 100 years, this statuesque hotel has hosted such famous guests as England's King Edward VII, Marcel Proust, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, each of whom has a suite named for him (although none quite as pricey as the one that pays homage to the couture designer).

Suite Area: 1667 sq. ft.
Rates are from $4300 a night

Royal Suite, Burj Al Arab
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Whats Hot: A private screening room and rotating beds

Standing 321 meters high, the Burj Al Arab is the world's tallest hotel, rising above even the Eiffel Tower and only 60 meters shorter than the Empire State Building. For those with big bucks to spread around, there are two Royal Suites on the 25th floor of the 28-story suites-only building. The luxurious accommodations have breathtaking views of the ocean, feature a private cinema, whirlpool baths, rotating beds, dining room, dressing room and butler's room with a separate entrance. Each bathroom comes with £200 worth of Hermès goodies, which guests are encouraged to take home. There’s positively no skimping: even the wall-mounted televisions have frames covered in gold leaf. The Burj also has its own “submarine” ride to an underwater restaurant complete with shark-infested aquarium.

Suite Area: 8392 sq. ft.
Rates are from $6800 a night

Ocean Pavillion, Huvafen Fushi, Maldives
Location: North Male Atoll, Maldives
Whats Hot: Chic blend of discreet luxury and modern design

Drift a further 100 metres offshore.  Split level decks with indulgences such as an outdoor infinity pool with swim-throughs into the lounge areas; jacuzzi and seductive sun loungers; and there are speakers for the Bose surround-sound music system, so you can watch the fish while listening to your favourite tunes. For a memorable dinner, book into the underground wine cellar, where images of the vineyard that produced your choice of wine are projected onto a screen while you sip. Rejuvenate your spirits at Fushi's luxury spa with the world’s first underwater massage treatment rooms. Enjoy your chosen treatment whilst gazing on the wonders of the Indian Ocean in your very own aquarium.

Suite Area: 3550 sq. ft.
Rates are from $4000 a night

Presidential Suite, Martinez Hotel, Cannes
Location: Cannes, France
Whats Hot: The luxurious jewel of the French Riviera allows you to hob-nob with the stars

The Martinez Hotel in Cannes likes superlatives and bills itself as having the biggest, most expensive and only terraced penthouse suite on the Cote d'Azur. The penthouse suites are decorated in muted, understated tones (brown, cream and tan) in the hotel's signature Art Deco style, with streamlined furniture, silk curtains and teak parquet floors. Each suite has two bedrooms, a Turkish bath, kitchen, personal sauna and views of the Lerins Islands as well as the entire Bay of Cannes. The wraparound terrace is 2,000 square feet and can comfortably hold 100 people. It also has a Jacuzzi. Technophiles will appreciate the Bose plasma screen televisions and telephones and the DVD library. A private butler is on call 24 hours a day, and other amenities include use of a limousine, open bar and the option to join both suites into one très grand apartment.

Villa La Cupola, Westin Excelsior, Rome
Location: Rome, Italy
Whats Hot: Incomparable service, expansive living, and an unequalled level of comfort and elegance makes it the most luxurious suite in Europe

Rome's "Villa La Cupola" suite within the Westin Excelsior has all things Roman and excessive--a cupola, a Pompeii-style Jacuzzi pool, frescoes and stained glass windows--except, perhaps, a vomatorium. Located on the fifth and sixth floor underneath the cupola of the hotel (which was made famous by Fellini's movies), the suite covers 6,099 square feet and has an additional 1,808 square feet of balconies and terraces. The green marble in the bathrooms comes from ancient quarries in Tunisia and Italy, the chandeliers are not just Murano - they’re gilded Murano - and the floors have elegant Cosmatesque tiles. What really makes this suite over the top is a private cinema with Dolby surround sound. Such luxury makes even the private elevator that leads up to the fitness area and Jacuzzi--complete with mosaic floors, vaulted ceilings and frescoes--seem ordinary.

Suite Area: 11,800 sq. ft.
