A Stunning Engagement Ceremony at One of Malaysia’s Oldest Temples.

When Dinesh’s sister had him meet her circle of friends, he was instantly captivated by one of the young women’s smiles. Something clicked in his mind so he decided to send a friend request to Shangita on Facebook. She was always cautious about accepting strangers request but call it fate as she accidentally clicked the ‘accept’ button and out of curiosity she glanced through his profile. Something about Dinesh impressed her so she decided it was ok to accept his friendship. The adventurous sportsman made the first move and introduced himself to the bubbly, fun-loving girl he came to know. They started texting each other and in a while, Dinesh mustered up the courage to ask her out. She agreed and a few months later, Dinesh expressed the depth of his feelings for her.

More messages, calls and dates followed, as the two grew close to each other. Being an adventurous guy himself, Dinesh wanted to make it official and wanted his proposal to be a very memorable moment. It all happened on Shangita’s birthday as he sought the help of her childhood friends to meet up at one of her favourite restaurants. While she thought her dearest friends along with Dinesh were there to celebrate her birthday, he surprised her by going down on his knees and proposing to her. For a moment, she was awe-struck but eventually said ‘YES’! After that, they were introduced to each other’s families and their loved ones were only too happy that Dinesh and Shangita found each other and gave their blessings to them.

Months later they decided to get engaged in a formal engagement ceremony that embraced and celebrated their culture and traditions. Feast your eyes on the vibrant colors and meaningful intricacies of their traditional engagement rituals captured wonderfully by Andrew Koe.

Dinesh and Shangita followed South Indian rituals at their engagement in the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, one of Malaysia’s oldest. With its colorful statues and intricate detailing, the temple made for a stunning backdrop for the bride who posed pretty for the cameras before the ceremony. She wore an intricate silk saree with a matching blouse covered in stonework and embroidery. She complimented the beautiful saree with statement jewelry. The groom wore a traditional Bandhgala that resonated with his ladylove’s ensemble. Absolutely dashing!

The decoration at the venue was full of all the fabulous elements of a South Indian engagement ceremony: traditional seating, floral arrangements and presents for each side of the families!

Looking into each other’s eyes, Dinesh and Shangita exchanged rings and the best part of the day was seeing all the smiling faces of their families and friends as they celebrated this beautiful union.
