A Surprise Backyard Wedding Proposal That Will Melt Your Heart

High school sweethearts Jessica and Prem were always meant to be with each other, and even distance couldn’t affect the strength of their relationship. Their special bond was made official with Prem’s surprise proposal in Jess’s backyard.
The groom-to-be reached out to WeddingSutra Favorite – Shana Namrata Events to carefully plan and execute a wedding proposal that felt special and homely at the same time. The groom-to-be shares their love story below.
How They Met
Prem recalls, “Jess and I started dating in high school and had to go our separate ways as she moved to Boston while I stayed back in New Jersey for college. But we didn’t let that break us apart and we decided to continue a long-distance relationship. Once we graduated, we were back in the same town again.”
The Proposal
He shares, “After being together for all these years, I knew that Jess was the one for me. I wanted the proposal to reflect the timeline of all the years we had spent together. I also wanted the proposal to have a personal feel to it so I chose to do it at Jess’s house. I decided to reach out to Shana and Namrata Events. After brainstorming for hours and communicating my vision, they were able to help me put together and execute a spectacular proposal.”
The proposal started with a mysterious envelope that read “Read Me”. As soon as Jess opened the heartfelt letter, she burst into tears of joy. She was then welcomed into her backyard through an aisle decorated with fairy-lights, flowers, and polaroids of the couple throughout the years. As she made her way, Prem stood in front of her with a LED-lit board that read ‘Will You Marry Me?’ behind him. He greeted her with a bouquet of flowers and held her close. He then pulled out the ring and popped the question. Still overwhelmed with joy, Jess collected herself and immediately said ‘Yes!’.”
After some emotional and intimate moments between the couple, their close family and friends gathered around to celebrate with a bottle of champagne. The couple posed romantically while showing off Jess’s gorgeous diamond ring in the glow of the soothing lights, along with the cutest guest of them all: their dog!
