Anjali Mehta now Anjali Tendulkar studied at Mumbai’s then most elite school– the Bombay International School and she was brought up in 75 Bhulabhai Desai Road- one of the most beautiful residential bunglows in Mumbai. Anjali’s British mother Annabel Mehta runs the NGO Apnalaya, and her father Anand Mehta, was a well-known industrialist and a former Bridge champion. At their antique-filled mansion Anjali’s parents entertained the who’s who from the world of business, academics and arts. When Anjali got engaged to Sachin Tendulkar—it was a union of a bride and groom from the same city, but from very different cultures and backgrounds.
Given her very cosmopolitan background and modern upbringing, we’re quite surprised to see Anjali Tendulkar’s style picks– clothes which fall in the category of unimaginative cuts, zero experimentation in color combinations and rich yet staid embroidery. At most events Anjali looks uncomfortable in front of the camera, maybe because she prefers to maintain a low profile in public. Whatever be Anjali’s intention on her choices, we admire Anjali for not letting style trends or fashion designers dictate what she wear, but for her ability to choose what she or her husband feel is appropriate yet beautiful wear.
