What happens when a social media star – fashion blogger, YouTuber, hairstylist – gets to plan her own engagement? You get a whole bunch of cute, quirk and photos fit for a queen.
Fashion blogger Kavya D’souza of StreakHueFall got engaged to her longtime beau, Anish in an intimate ceremony. Their funky, saturated, fun pictures captured by WeddingSutra Favorite The Photo Diary will give you major goals. Take a peek into this beautiful ceremony as she shares highlights from it and tells us more about her journey of love.
The couple has been together for more than 11 years. “I met Anish when he had just come down from Dubai for his studies. From absolute strangers to text buddies to eventually falling in love – it’s been a beautiful ride! We’ve seen each other through the unforgettable college years to the figuring-out-life phase, some major life decisions and a long distance relationship. After 11 years of dating, Anish and I finally decided to put a ring on it!”
The couple wanted a small, intimate affair, the bride-to-be says, “With only our loved ones around we were very clear we didn’t want the venue to be an out and out commercial space. We also wanted easy access. I stumbled upon Exotica – The Tropical Retreat online and the moment I visited the venue, I knew it was everything we wanted. Only minutes away, but far from the hustle bustle of the city, we finalized the venue with its wooden interiors flanked by lotus ponds on either sides for the function.”
Kavya had a very clear idea about the look and feel of the engagement: a dreamscape with fairy lights, gold elements and lots of green and baby’s breath. “To add to the magical vibe of the evening we also had a live guitarist and a singer who entertained the guests,” Kavya says. The instant photos pinned on the wall immediately after for guests to take home was another show stealer!
At the ceremony, the couple had their dads raise the toast, she says, “It was possibly the best part of the evening! Needless to say, our pooches were also witnessed to this. All my girlfriends and cousins dressed up in a similar color palette and this made for some fabulous pictures.”
Speaking of photos, she says, “Going with The Photo Diary was a no brainer and I am so glad because those images are memories worth a lifetime. Also, the engagement video is one of the most beautiful treasures for us and our families. I’d highly recommend that every bride-to-be should never compromise on their photographer/videographer!”
Being a fashion blogger, deciding the outfit for the engagement was the toughest job! Kavya wanted a golden gown with a bit of drama but not something OTT. Looking through the new designer collections didn’t get her anywhere but thank goodness for friends. “My friend has her own label, Label Sneha Banga and she designed something for me. I could direct every small factor – the embroidery, finish, the sheer back details and the long trail. It was everything I wanted.” The look was finished with a pair of cocktail diamond earrings from Jet Gems. Anish, the fashionista’s main man was also sure about his look, “He wanted to wear an oxblood suit with a vintage waistcoat and we eventually got a bespoke piece from Artiza. I love how his oxblood suit looked with my gold gown!”
Lastly, Kavya shares some insights on planning an engagement, “Sitting down with your partner and jotting down details – broad enough like the number of guests to finer ones like the mood, vibe and color palette well in advance will only help you find the right vendors for each of the departments. It will make your life a lot easier later. So make that Pinterest board right now and start pinning!”
