Honoring legacy while making space for individuality, this couple’s wedding in Delhi inspired awe with its elegant and chic designs!
Wedding Planning - Jun 25, 2025
Bringing together the poetic charm of old-world academia and the luminous beauty of a reimagined Indian wedding, Amrita and Angad’s celebration was a masterclass in meaningful design. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Ferris Wheel Diaries and brought to life with an artistic flourish by WeddingSutra Favorite – Nazara Decor, the multi-day affair unfolded expressively and unforgettably.
Cocktail
Titled ‘Sweet Disposition’, the cocktail evening was an intellectual and emotional immersion into the couple’s shared love for literature, philosophy, and romantic nostalgia. Inspired by the aesthetic of ‘Dark Academia’, the space evoked the aura of forgotten libraries and timeless prose where flickering candlelight, vintage wooden furniture, and sepia-toned artwork conjured an atmosphere of moody elegance. Guests wandered through a setting designed for reflection as much as revelry, sinking into leather couches, sipping cocktails by candlelight, and reading curated quotes and poems that adorned walls, table mats, and scrolls. “We wanted to design a setting that wasn’t just visually arresting, but also emotionally evocative. Something that would inspire dialogue and introspection,” shares Kriti Sharma, founder of Nazara Decor. Every element was steeped in intention, from 187 handpicked quotes printed on parchment-style table mats to entry panels featuring verses and dialogues, including original poetry penned by the bride. A stage framed with handwritten song lyrics, crossword-inspired centrepieces spelling out the event’s name, and twin bars representing the couple’s duality added layers of meaning.
“When Angad and Amrita envisioned their cocktail soirée, they dreamed of a celebration that was unapologetically their own, a reflection of their shared passions and unique journey,” shares Vedika Singhal of The Ferris Wheel Diaries. “We brought their vision to life with immersive details that transformed the space into their world. Ceiling-to-floor lyrical curtains and Harry Potter-inspired chandeliers set the tone at the entrance, while a pianist surrounded by candles played melodies from Game of Thrones, The Godfather, and more. Themed bars, glowing poetry candles, and 140 handpicked quotes brought their love for books, music, and fandoms to life.” From Amrita’s father’s surprise waltz to a curated menu celebrating their favorite cuisines, the evening struck a rare balance of sophistication and sentiment.

Wedding
In striking contrast, the wedding day was a serene yet opulent affair, unfolding in a lush garden, awash in ivory and turquoise blue. Blending soft floral romance with crystalline grandeur, the decor struck a rare balance between heritage and modernity. The blue-and-white palette lent an elevated air of calm sophistication, offset by vivid turquoise flooring and cascading floral garlands. Crystal chandeliers shimmered under the sun, catching the light like floating stars, while Chanderi textiles, mogra strings, and regal shamadaans added depth and tradition.
“Rather than choosing between conventional Indian opulence and a more contemporary, international design, we decided to merge the two in harmony,” explains Kriti Sharma. This philosophy was most poignantly captured in the entrance design, where fragrant jasmine garlands intertwined with crystal strings in hues of turquoise. The floral story was equally compelling. Rajnigandha and mogra mingled with cool-toned hydrangeas and delphiniums—an ‘East-meets-West’ fusion that brought freshness to the sensory experience. These blooms, rarely seen in Indian weddings, added volume, elegance, and a European sensibility that felt refreshingly modern.
