Our initiative ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates beautiful people in love as they start their lives together: because real love can only begin, never end.
They were in the same school but lost touch when they graduated. They met again at a wedding and reconnected, only to go their different ways once more. When fate brought them together the third time, something had to change… and it did. Find out how Anushika Kaushal and Karan Dogra finally embarked on their journey, this time never to part…
I work as a Software Product Manager in an IT firm, and Karan is a Territory Sales Manager. We started dating in 2005, and then again in 2008 for few years after meeting at a common friend’s wedding. However, we broke up because, in hindsight, I think we were impulsive, impatient and very amateur at that time. We lost touch and went our separate ways.
I think fate had different plans for us because Karan called me after that, and we talked. A few days we spoke, he saw me in my car at a traffic light. Our eyes met and I felt an adrenaline rush and even had goosebumps – I somehow knew that our relationship was not over yet. There had to be a reason why we kept bumping into each other through the years. Maybe it was because of the unexplained connection I always felt we had.
We spoke to each other again after our traffic stop meeting. We were aware of each other’s good and bad points, as well as likes and dislikes due to our earlier romance. What I really loved about Karan was that he was a quiet, grounded guy with a golden heart. And yes, he was an excellent dancer. These qualities of his have not changed over the years.
Around this time, my parents had started looking for a suitable boy for me. Karan knew I’d tie the knot soon and then he would lose me forever. So we decided to get married.
After fate had kept us separate all these years, we did not want to waste any more time. So we did not analyse or over think anything and got married on 24 November 2015 at the Punjabi Bagh Club, just two days after our engagement.
All the events at our wedding were managed by Rajat Dogra’s Elysian. I’ve always wanted a royal yet elegant and simple wedding. Our preference was toward a Rajputana style as Karan and I are both Rajputs. He hails from Jammu and me from Punjab.
WeddingSutra wishes Anushika and Karan a very ‘Happy Ever After’ – May the precious truth of their everlasting connection add even more lustre in their marriage.
