Love Actually- Bijeta Chakraborty and Rohit Bhattacherjee’s Platinum Day of Love
Love Actually, Precious Platinum - Nov 26, 2013
Our new initiative- ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring engaged couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates the beautiful people in love as they start their lives together. Because real love can only begin, never end. Over coffee, a makeover and a photo shoot we get to-be-weds to tell us how they met, show us their platinum love bands and talk about their day of love.
For the third photo shoot we invited Bijeta Chakraborty and Rohit Bhattacharjee, both computer science graduates from Bangalore. Bijeta works with NetApp, Rohit earlier worked with NetApp and is now with Oracle. And the duo met at a NetApp party. “At the party we spoke a bit but we got to know each other when both of us registered for the 10 km marathon in our office (I later figured out Rohit registered just to give me company). I love mornings so would look forward to the marathon practices at Cubbon park. I love the chill in the air when I wake up before sunrise, I love sprinting on wet grass with the sound of the birds reverberating. Rohit is the opposite. He firmly believes mornings can only start at ten. But he would wake up by five in the morning, pick me up from my doorstep, and get me to the park before six. I knew he was interested. But his efforts made me weak in the knees.”
Adds Rohit: “The few mornings of practice at Cubbon park were very special to us because that’s where it all started. I started enjoying getting up early morning, the dewy chill air, the sharing of jackets, the non-stop joking, the longer breakfasts, the even longer drives to get to a place to have breakfast, we knew we were into each other. In a month we were ready for the marathon, but we were more ready for each other.”
There was no formal proposal. On one of their long drives, Rohit told Bijeta that he was in love with her. Bijeta needed some time to think about the proposal, but in a couple of days, she realized she was head over heels in love!
Bijeta and Rohit are getting married in Kolkata on 28th November 2013. Says Bijeta: “Our extended families are in Kolkata and since we are working in Bangalore our parents took complete responsibility for the wedding, so we weren’t really involved much in the logistics. But I am very particular about my clothes, makeup, and photographs. I spent a lot of time researching on candid photographers and make-up artists, and planned my wedding attire in detail. My parents were very keen that my trousseau should include traditional sarees from different parts of India. So we have been shopping during our travels since one year and all our purchases were made over a period of time.” She concludes: “Sometimes love can be effortless, and just pure fun, and that is what we have. I believe ‘Someone Somewhere is made for you’ and I found my Someone in Rohit”.
If you’re getting married in 2014 and would like to be a part of ‘Love Actually’ write to us (editor@weddingsutra.com) with the link to your FB profiles, wedding date and ‘how you met’ story. Selected couples will be invited for the shoots in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.
