New Raffles Dubai set to host first big Indian Wedding

It is Destination Dubai for a Mumbai billionaire family and is expected to be the biggest Indian wedding at an international venue since the pandemic outbreak last year. The families (bride side Mumbai and groom’s side London) have bought-out the new and exquisite Raffles The Palm Dubai where over 700 guests are expected to arrive by chartered jets for the four day revelries. The themed celebrations at the palatial luxe resort are being planned as per the vision of the bride’s mother. According to one of the guests the pre-wedding celebrations ahead of the Dubai wedding will also be a high energy affair– with shindigs in London, and traditional ceremonies in Mumbai and Rajasthan (bride’s native place).

Raffles The Palm Dubai that opened on October 1, 2021 is spread across 25 acres of prime beachfront along Palm Jumeirah- the world’s largest manmade island. With over 389 rooms (the smallest being 700 square feet), lush gardens and pristine white beaches, the ultra-luxe property is dubbed as an ideal venue for destination weddings or social celebrations for the rich and famous. Besides its spectacular dining experiences and lavish amenities, the amazing features at Raffles Dubai include 70,000 pieces of furniture from traditional Italian ateliers, over 6,000 Swarovski chandeliers, and a spa sanctuary with 23 treatment rooms

With destination weddings at international venues taking a huge back-seat, Indian wedding planners expect this wedding to be the start of many more to come. There is a word of caution from a top planner though. “If earlier 10 magnificent Indian weddings took place every month overseas, till the second or third quarter of 2022 the numbers will be less than two or three.” Another travel curator quips: “While UAE is of course garnering a lot of interest, the other international destination resorts on the wish-list of ultra-rich brides and grooms include Four Seasons and Marsa Malaz Kempinski in Doha, The Chedi and Shangri-La Al Husn in Muscat, and oceanfront property The Ritz Carlton in Koh Samui.”
