Bridesmaids Inspirations from Lakmé Fashion Week 2017

Lakmé Fashion Week is a great place for sartorial inspiration for all the summer/destination weddings that you will attend this season. Summer/resort this year seems to be about a pastel and metallic color palette, breezy layers, contemporary silhouettes, and comfort. Here are some of the handpicked designer looks we’re putting on top of our shopping wishlist for summer weddings of 2017.

Payal Singhal – Lady M
Inspired by Agatha Christie’s dark romantic murder mystery ‘Death on the Nile’, Payal Singhal showcased lehengas, dresses and her signature dhoti sarees and pants in scalloped hems, tasseled fringes, Art Deco accents and floral motifs in silver and gold ‘mukaish’ and ‘pita’ work.

Monisha Jaising – Cool Cruise
Monisha Jaising’s collection showcased aboard the Costa neoClassica Cruise featured extravagant evening wear, contemporary and stately silhouettes, an effortless approach to cocktail sarees and skirts with figure-hugging bodices.

Anushree Reddy – An Indian Summer
The Hyderabad-based designer showcased her signature floral prints inspired by the great Indian Desert, in pastel shades of lime green, aqua, salmon, rose gold, lilac, ivory and corals in dreamy, flowing silhouettes. Her collection included summer classics like off-shoulder tops and loose tunics.

Divya Reddy – Shahabzadi
Inspired by Mughal royalty the ‘Shahabzadi’ collection by Divya Reddy had a modern-day fairytale vibe with flowing white lehengas, discreetly embroidered knee-length dresses and white floor-skimming gowns presented with stylish yellow capes and crafted in the silk and hand-woven Konda Patti cotton.

Ritu Kumar – Maharaja Pop
Inspired by the rich fabrics and ornamentations of erstwhile royalty, merged with quirky color accents and bold, military-inspired prints, Ritu Kumar’s collection showcased graphic printed sarees and dresses, foil printed jerseys, metallic skirts and bomber jackets with modern pop print.

Arpita Mehta – Island Life
Arpita showcased bold ensembles with a sensuous vintage style with easy-to-wear feminine outfits that are perfect for a summer wedding or resort wear in hues of mustard, peach, and cream.
