Seven Stunning Society Weddings this Season

WeddingSutra brings you a round-up of seven magnificent celebrations at seven different places, this winter wedding season.

Payal Shah and Nihar Parikh- Mumbai

Jewellery Designer Payal Shah from Hong Kong wed Diamond Magnate Nihar Parikh at a glittering affair held across four South Mumbai venues- Hotels Trident, Palladium, Four Seasons and the newest sprawling indoor venue- NSCI, Worli. Over 600 friends of the couple and their families from overseas were there; their large circle of friends and business acquaintances from Mumbai were there too—making this a big home town cum destination wedding with over 2000 guests. The bride looked elegant and uber-glamorous at every celebration, while the groom looked dapper in designer sherwanis and suits. The décor set-ups by Seventy EMG and Cineyug featured themes like ‘Moroccan Night’ ‘Colors of Sun Rise’ ‘Flavors of India’ and ‘Europe meets Asia’. We were there for the celebrations and were awestruck with the tradition meets modernity elements at all of them. Not to forget the amazing variety of vegetarian delicacies from the world and regional India (again traditional with a modern twist) whipped up by Mumbai’s famed ‘Popular Caterers’.

Chandni Amin and Smit Virani, Muscat

For four days Shangri-La’s Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa’s Al Waha Hotel was named Virani Castle. Yes, Shangri-La hotel renamed their luxurious Muscat property for the mega wedding of Smit Virani from Hong Kong/ Mumbai and Chandni Amin from Anand, Gujarat. Our friends from London, Hong Kong and Belgium who have attended the most glamorous soirees all over and who were present at this Shaadi commented that this was a wedding like no other- the guest list, the decor, the picture perfect venues and the hospitality and organisation by Shangri-la and the three event management companies. So we reached out to the just-weds to know more about how they planned it all. Smit stated: “There were two reasons why we chose Muscat– we were looking for a new, international destination and since Muscat is just over two hours away from Mumbai/ Gujarat it seemed like a perfect choice. And then we were mesmerized by the three Shangri-La properties in Muscat. Now I can say we made the best decision. I’ve stayed at the most luxurious resorts all over the world, but the hospitality and overall experience at Shangri-La exceeded all expectations.”
