Shantanu and Nikhil’s latest ceremonial collection “OASIS” spells glamour with an edge
The dynamic designer duo’s statement response to the crisis of recent times, “OASIS”, their latest ceremonial couture collection of 2021, marks a return of power, splendour and beauty. The stunning collection channels the, unapologetic, fierce glamour the House has always been famous for, with almost 70% of the lineup being menswear alongside key womenswear silhouettes, breathtakingly crafted for the modern grooms of today who aren’t shy to shine as much as their brides.
Shot against the palatial backdrop of Suryagarh in Jaisalmer, the collection offers a regal take on their signature military inspired detailing and tribal motifs. Draped silk kurtas with kaleidoscopic prints perfect for intimate soirees are accompanied by armor-esqe bandis and bandhgalas festooned with military detailing for an edgy Sangeet look. Cowl trousers present the perfect update on the classic dhoti to go with glam sherwanis, topped with jewelled brooches, couture safas, stoles and regalia-inspired accessories for the fashion forward groom.
Designer Shantanu shares, “For women we have blurred the boundaries between ballgowns and lehengas, creating hybrid styles that will wear well anywhere from New York to New Delhi.” Voluminous drapes meet expertly constructed bodices to form one-of-a-kind pieces hand embellished with exquisite embroideries, crystals and leather appliques, crafted in a decadent palette of gold, red, black and navy for the bride who loves to stand out. Signature crimsons make their way into the heart of the classic bride, while multicolored couture prints on luxurious fabrics call out to the eclectic, neo-luxe bride. Contrast linings add a splash of fun, while new cityscape-inspired motifs nod to the global lives we embody now.
Blending modernity with the courageous voice of the collection, ‘Oasis’ infuses timeless designs with unique elements and contemporary ease. Even though it is captured in a fairytale setting, it beckons to the fierce brides and grooms of today who aren’t afraid of being undeniably unique!
