Shereena Raj and Rohit Manoj Kumar, Qatar
Wedding Planning - Feb 23, 2023
For her wedding to Finance Manager Rohit Manoj Kumar, Wedding Planner Shereena Raj, the owner of Shehnai Weddings Qatar, orchestrated an intimate, memorable celebration in Qatar. From cozy, home functions to dazzling ballroom affairs, this wedding takes us on a unique journey. Watch it unfold below.
How they met
Born and raised in Qatar, Shereena met Rohit, who had shifted to Qatar at the age of 3, through mutual friend circles. Having heard of each other in passing, Rohit took his shot one day and messaged Shereena saying, “Hey, I don’t do this often, but I couldn’t resist sliding into your DMs”. His fun, quirky message charmed her and sparked a conversation that kept going non-stop for days. A week later they met for their first date accompanied by their best friends, and there was no looking back!
Wedding venue
The Qatar-based couple wanted to make the most of Qatar’s beauty, diverse landscapes, and luxury for a celebration like no other and hosted their functions across a variety of venues. As a professional wedding planner herself, the bride also wanted to challenge herself and ensured every location and function had something unique to offer. While most of the functions were intimate and home-held, for their reception they envisioned a space with a remarkable dance floor, balcony and striking bar setups, which they found in Dusit Hotel Westbay Qatar.
Wedding Planning
With the experience of planning 100+ weddings, the bride was the best person to spearhead the planning of her own wedding and led her team of Shehnai Weddings Qatar to design and orchestrate a magical celebration. Anish Grid Photography captured their special moments in vivid beauty.
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
Kicking off the revelries at her best friend’s Clubhouse, the bride hosted a lively mehndi soiree for all her loved ones. The bright, quirky decor lit up the poolside soiree in hues of the sun as everyone danced, had fun, and enjoyed the day.
Wedding
In a heartwarming ode to his childhood, the wedding was hosted at his old family home in Qatar. Currently occupied by his father’s best friend and business partner who graciously offered to host the celebration, the space was decked with simple yet colorful decor for the intimate wedding of just 30 people, and saw warm, emotional moments of family love. The nuptials were performed as per the groom’s mother’s traditions.
Reception
Ringing in a fun-filled Reception with music, dance, and merriment, the bride choice Dusit Hotel Westbay Qatar for its sprawling dance floor, balcony, and bar setups. The festive decor of red and gold was the perfect backdrop to the Bollywood-inspired night of choreographed dance performances that the couple and their loved ones relished. Staying true to her love for dance, the bride and groom swapped out a mellow track for a riveting “Husn hai Suhana” Remix to bring the festivities to a thunderous close.
Advice for couples
“Meticulously plan your event down to every detail and transaction way ahead of the date. It’s always fewer disappointments that way and you get to enjoy every moment stress-free. Also, try and get the entire event captured in a full video or live link, so you can revisit those memories”.
