Simple yet vibrant, this couple’s fusion wedding in Mumbai sported rich elements from both their cultures

Chartered accountants Sneha Subramaniam and Prajesh Dawda’s wedding in Mumbai was a combination of rich hues and time-honored traditions. Designing their wedding was WeddingSutra Favorite – Perfect Decor who keenly understood the vision of both families to orchestrate an elegant wedding that witnessed two different cultures merging as one.

Telling us how they crossed paths, Sneha shares, “We met while pursuing our academic aspirations a decade ago. We got married after dating for 9 years and remained best friends throughout!”

Karan Raichura from Perfect Decor shares, “The couple were lucky enough to get access to the vast BPCL Lawns as the bride’s father works in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. As a result, we gave complete liberty to our creativity! All in all, it was a unique experience as two very different cultures, Tamil and Kutchi united to celebrate this union.”

Sneha goes on to give us a bird’s eye view of the two celebrations that took place, “We did a traditional wedding in the first half of the day. The cuisine along with the rituals was merged and our guests just loved it! We hosted a sit-down lunch for our guests, the plate was vibrant and most of us were delighted with the spread.

In the evening, we hosted a casual floating reception with music and drinks. The theme was ‘drink deeply, dance badly and love truly’. It was such a fun-filled party! Our families enjoyed it, we saw the fun side of them. By the end of it, most of us could barely walk home – either due to crazy dancing or due to the spirits, either way, but we went home with wide smiles on our faces.”

Impressed by the design team’s efficiency and dedication Prajesh adds, “Perfect Decor only had a couple of hours to change the decor between the morning and the evening. And, they transformed it so well. Both events had a different theme and it felt like a different venue altogether in the evening. They executed the ideas to perfection!”

Planning a fusion wedding is a colossal task and having been through it the couple advises, “In the middle of all the planning and the stress on the wedding day, don’t forget to have fun as a couple. Relish your small moments to share the laughter, crack a joke or two, remember the amazing time you’ve had as a couple, and toast a few drinks – because, in the end, it’s all about those little things, isn’t it?”
