Our Love Actually series captures beautiful moments between couples in the most stunning locations across Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
We met Suman and Gagan at Sofitel Mumbai BKC, the beacon of French luxury in India. Suman’s radiance right through the shoot was courtesy makeup artist Sanjana Bandesha. The couple wore stylish platinum jewelry from PN Gadgil Jewellers (Vile Parle, East) while WhatKnot captured tender moments in frames the two will cherish forever.
As we chatted to the bride-to-be at Le15 Patisserie, a little piece of Paris in the heart of Mumbai known for their sweet morsels à la française, we heard about Suman’s love story and her love for the Parisienne art de vivre.
Suman could barely contain her excitement at the Parisian theme of the shoot, “The city has always been close to my heart. To me, Paris epitomizes elegance, luxury and romance… and those three ideals are an inherent part of my personality. Even my room at home is decorated with a parisienne aesthetic so the theme of the shoot really resonates.”
Suman and Gagan’s first meeting was rather uneventful. “We met at a friend’s party, were introduced, and moved on with on with our respective lives.” But only three short months later, when they spoke to each other, sparks flew, “Everything automatically fell into place.”
There were texts and calls for months and then the two decided to meet. “We clicked!” Suman grins, but she wasn’t looking for a fleeting liaison, “It had to be something that lasted forever.” And her ‘toujours’ was evident when she met Gagan, “I knew that he was someone with whom I could spend the rest of my life with. But I didn’t know what was going on in his mind.”
As luck would have it, the two had already found a connection. They just had to realise it. Gagan was worried that the intensity of his feelings were perhaps too much, but he decided to bare his soul anyway. Suman laughs at the memory, “On our very first date he admitted he was in love with me and that dating and courtship to him, were merely formalities. He said that he saw everything he ever wanted in a girl in me and was certain that I was the one for him. Moreover, he was willing to go forward only if I saw marriage as a possibility, even if it was 2 or 3 years down the line. All the words I’d planned to say to him were coming out of his mouth!”
As they got to know each other better, they realized more and more how kindred they were, their twin souls constantly delighting in each other. Suman says, “We’re so similar, it’s unreal. We have the same sun sign and we connect so well, it’s impossible to explain.” And where there is no exact similarity, each is willing to go halfway to experience the other’s life.
The shoot was a great example of their relationship dynamic Suman says, “I am a fashion blogger so for me shoots aren’t an exclusive affair. Gagan, on the other hand, is someone who has never been through a photoshoot before. I wasn’t sure he’d agree to this but he not only did but also got excited about it. He said that he would love to see what a day in my life looks like and how I go about it.”
And there was more sweetness to follow. “Our packed schedules mean we rarely have the opportunity to spend the entire day together. WeddingSutra planned this so well, it really felt like a day devoted to love, just love. Team WhatKnot sensed that Gagan was new to this and were super encouraging. In fact, they went on to help him with poses too. They made sure that he was at ease and was having a good time.”
Suman also loved her makeup, “Sanjana’s approach was amazing. She asked me all the right questions like what my regular look is so she could give me something different for the shoot. Her work is perfect.”
As for the location, she said Sofitel Mumbai BKC was the next best thing to Paris, “The decor beautifully complemented the mood of the shoot. The outdoor space was breezy and the wind blowing through hair as we shot was just the touch we needed to make the pictures look perfect. And Le15 is reminiscent of a quaint cafe in Paris! Another great location to shoot at.”
A self-admitted jewelry agnostic, Suman found herself falling in love with the platinum love bands, “I was introduced to love bands and other platinum pieces because of this shoot. Now that I’ve seen and worn them, I’m actually considering investing in them. They are precious but aren’t flashy and can be worn everyday. In fact, Gagan promised he’d buy me a ring because he loved the design too. Besides, I’m all for romantic clichés and love bands are said to make partners feel connected by the heart.”
Suman runs her own website www.sincerelysu.com and is very knowledgeable about and active on digital platforms. The blogger bride was all praises for WeddingSutra “I have been following WeddingSutra for ages, well before marriage was on the cards. I have always loved how you cover trends and stories related to the wedding industry, be it décor, design or trousseau. Now that I am getting married, all of this is relevant to me, making me a regular on the website. WeddingSutra makes it so convenient for brides- to-be to look for vendors. Moreover, the fact that someone is listed on Wedding Sutra serves as an assurance of their credibility. Currently, I’m hooked!” says Suman with a big smile.
