Wedding Proposals - Sep 19, 2024
Charita, a marketing professional and Vipul, the co-founder of Knotty Affair By Namit & Vipul tied the knot two and a half years ago. Despite planning a pre-wedding photoshoot multiple times, fate had other plans and the couple never got around to it. However, they did find the perfect opportunity during their vacation to Thailand where they were completely at ease in front of the camera as WeddingSutra Favorite – Knotty Affair By Namit & Vipul captured them sharing candid moments of love.
Recollecting how they first met, Charita shares, “Our story began at a wedding, which is quite fitting considering what he does for a living. It was during someone else’s special day that our lives changed forever. The irony is that a wedding photographer met his future wife during a wedding. We shared our first dance that night, and something just clicked. It felt like love at first dance.” What followed was an unconventional proposal that seemed something out of a Bollywood flick. “I decided to break the norms and took the initiative to propose to him. The proposal happened at the airport arrival area, and it was completely spontaneous. Even though we didn’t have permission to stage such an event there, I went ahead with my plan. As he walked out of the terminal, I was waiting with a sign, and I asked him the question that would change both our lives. The proposal turned out to be the talk of the town, not just because it was a female-led proposal but also because of the emotional and candid way it was done”, says Charita.
After two and a half years of marriage, the post-wedding photoshoot was initially not a planned one as the couple had just sketched out a vacation plan in Phuket. However, one thing led to another, Charita explains, “We got married two and a half years ago in Mumbai at Seven Eleven. Our wedding was a beautiful blend of both our cultures—I come from a Mangalorean background, and he is a Maharashtrian. We tried to plan our shoot three to four times before our wedding, but it just never worked out.
Time passed, and we got busy with life and work. It wasn’t until now that we finally managed to get everything in place for our post-wedding shoot. The shoot wasn’t planned initially—it was supposed to be a vacation. But, as fate would have it, that vacation turned into the perfect opportunity for our post-wedding shoot. We decided to make the most of the beautiful locations we visited, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made. Our post-wedding shoot was all about being ourselves. We didn’t want anything too staged or formal. The theme was simple—just have fun and be natural. We chose to shoot on the stunning beaches and in the charming streets of Old Town Phuket. The challenge was really in balancing the vacation mood with the shoot. We wanted to enjoy our time, but at the same time, we had to make sure we got the shots we wanted. As for our look, we kept it casual and comfortable, which allowed us to move around freely and enjoy the process. The highlight was the locations—Phi Phi Island’s beaches provided the perfect backdrop, making the entire experience even more special.”
This fun process also coincided with Charita’s birthday which added to the beauty of the shoot. “The most special part of the post-wedding shoot was that it coincided with my birthday. It felt like the universe was aligning everything for us to finally have this shoot after so long. Being on the beautiful beach at Phi Phi, just being ourselves, was incredibly freeing and fun. We didn’t have the pressure of a typical wedding shoot; it was more about capturing our love and connection in a natural setting. The spontaneous nature of the shoot, combined with the stunning location, made it a memorable experience that we will cherish forever”, shares Charita.
