The Season of Love (and Weddings)

It’s Cupid’s Day and while many will profess their love today, others are going a notch further by celebrating their love at locales that spell luxury, glamour and romance. Some of the most high profile weddings are in Royal Rajasthan while a wow wedding takes place in Kathmandu, where Natisha Saraf (daughter of Grand Hyatt owner Arun Saraf) weds Karan Saraogi.

Jodhpur- Rachel Goenka, the daughter of Viveck Goenka (MD of Indian Express) is tying the knot with Karan Khetarpal from Dubai. Food connoisseur that Rachel is (she is a trained pastry chef and founder of ‘The Sassy Spoon’ housed at Express Towers) we hear some of the best chefs have been flown in to Jodhpur to create the most amazing fare. The celebrations include a Church Wedding (Zita Goenka is Christian, and Rachel is her daughter from her first marriage), a fun Sangeet at Luni Fort near Jodhpur, and a grand gala dinner at Umaid Bhawan.

Udaipur- London based Sameera Israni and Shubir Kimatrai have chosen the City of Lakes for their grand destination wedding. Sameera is the daughter of business magnate Karan Israni and niece of prominent London socialite Pamela Grover whose son Kunal married Ria Dubash in Cannes in September last year. The Isranis have booked over 250 rooms across different properties in Udaipur, including Taj Lake Palace, Leela Palace and Udai Vilas; the guests most of whom are from London, Lagos and Mumbai land in Udaipur today and the three-day celebration is being managed by Pawan Mirchandani, whose company (Horizon WIE) has managed some of the most high profile Sindhi NRI weddings.

Jaipur- Designer Ritika Bharwani of design label ‘Ritika’ is tying the knot with Nikhil Jaisinghani, the head honcho of industrial group Polycab. The Bharwani (of Jetking fame) and Jaisinghani wedding is taking place at Fairmont- the fantastic destination wedding venue in the city. Post the three day celebrations there, the families will host a reception at JW Marriott, Mumbai. Click here to see Ritika and Nikhil’s pre-wedding interview and shoot with WeddingSutra.

Kathmandu- Hotelier and builder Arun Saraf hosted a home town wedding when his son Varun married Natasha Mittal in 2010. It’s a destination wedding for his daughter though, at a property owned by him- Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu. The biggest names in politics and business are flying in to Kathmandu tomorrow, and the ‘behind the scenes’ team there include DJ Gaurav Malvai, makeup maestro Ojas Rajani, photographer Joseph Radhik and wedding management company E-Factor.
