This couple celebrated their love with a rustic lockdown wedding
As couples all around the world reel from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic plunging their well-laid wedding plans into chaos, Dhara and Neel decided to hold on to hope and celebrate their love with a close-knit wedding ceremony after a dreamy proposal at Santorini where Neel went down on one knee and popped the question to Dhara who was taken by surprised.
Hosted on a lush lawn and bathed in sunlight, the decor laid emphasis on simplicity with floral and wooden elements being used generously. Walking down the aisle that was peppered with wooden placards etched with the vows that read, ‘With this ring, I give you my heart. I promise from this day forward, you shall not walk alone. May my heart be your shelter, and my arms be your home.’, Dhara, the bride glowed in a beautiful lace full-sleeved gown as she made her way over to her groom who waited for her under a floral archway adorned with peonies. And, after a quick exchange of rings, the duo was cheered on by the guests who’d witnessed the ceremony from their comfy white chairs.
Dhara shares, “This past weekend was supposed to be my traditional Hindu wedding ceremony but with the lockdown in place, we chose to turn this auspicious day into an emotional court wedding ceremony where we were surrounded by all of our loved ones. And even though there were plenty of challenges that we had to tackle, in the end, everything came together perfectly and I hope this gives all other brides a glimmer of hope as well.”
Eventually, the couple plans on celebrating their big day with their family and friends sometime later post the Covid-19 pandemic.
