This mehndi celebrated a cultural union of Gujarat & Punjab with vivid hues and some energetic Bhangra and Garba!
Wedding Planning - Aug 20, 2020
Fusing two vibrant cultures of India – Gujarati and Punjabi – this sundowner mehndi hosted by bride Riya and groom Anish raised the bar on many fronts. Adding a dash of creativity and novelty to the occasion was WeddingSutra Favorite – Baraati Inc whose team worked hard to ensure that guests had an unforgettable time.
Cross-cultural Charm
The mehndi had a quirky ‘Dosa & Mimosa’ theme that reflected the couple’s contrasting cultures and was attended by their friends who flew in from across the globe. Sharing the brief that they received from Riya and Anish, Shweta Acharya, co-founder of Baraati Inc, explains how they conceptualized the whole affair. “For Riya and Anish, inclusivity was extremely important as they had many international guests. A fun-filled and memorable celebration was what they had in mind so that all their guests could go back home with happy memories of an ultimate Indian celebration!”
Efficient & Organized
“Keeping their vision in mind, we started creating mood boards with the decor team. And since, the celebration was hosted at the groom’s private residence we chose a single point idea, like the kaleera installation for visual impact. The team also designed and developed a custom website where every guest had a unique login to access a customized itinerary for each day. Since the wedding party was extremely diverse, the website provided detailed information about the accommodation and events, pick up and drop timings, sightseeing spots, and much more. We also pitched in to curate experiential elements like a foot masseuse, quirky photo booths, and giveaway counters. The team also undertook end-to-end guest and on-ground management to ensure there were zero loose ends and everything was picture perfect.”
Tempting Treats
Shweta adds, “The entire event exuded a cheerful vibe with bright pink, sunny yellow and vibrant orange decor elements. Each aspect was scrutinized in detail to reflect the duo’s chosen ‘Dosa & Mimosa’ theme with food playing a central role. From chat counters that served delicacies from different states to steaming hot dosas, the live sit-down kitchen setup by Food Inc by The Yum Yum Tree was an instant hit. Furthermore, there was also an island bar equipped with an ice sculpture of the wedding hashtag #DesaidedOnSingh which was a witty combination of the Anish and Riya’s surnames. Live foot massages, a giveaway stall replete with favors, a dedicated Hopper Beer tap, a live gourmet popcorn cart, a cigar bar, and an enthralling performance by Bollywood singer Harshdeep Kaur resulted in an unforgettable bash that had everyone partying till the wee hours of the morning.”
