This wedding was an immersive experience with its unique blend of Indian traditions, local Omani elements and modern glamour!

Roshni Patel and Yash Daswani’s love story is a seamless confluence of global experiences and timeless traditions. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Serendipity Co., their union paid homage to both their cultures, Gujarati and Sindhi, while retaining their love for modern aesthetics.

Yash and Roshni

Born and raised in Ghana, shaped by an education in the U.S., and surrounded by a close-knit circle of friends worldwide, the couple embodies a truly cosmopolitan spirit. Yet, beneath this international tapestry lies a deep reverence for their Indian heritage. Yash, from a Sindhi family, and Roshni, a proud Gujarati, celebrated their union with a wedding that paid heartfelt homage to both their roots. Rhea Dewan, the founder of The Serendipity Co., reflects, “What made this celebration truly special was how effortlessly global it felt, while remaining so beautifully rooted in Indian tradition. Hosted over five days at the breathtaking Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah in Muscat, Oman, the wedding brought together 400 guests and took over the entire Al Bandar property, with all 198 rooms exclusively booked for four nights. Every detail paid homage to the couple’s multicultural identities and shared values. Their love for precision and thoughtful planning truly stood out—they were, in all honesty, more organised than most planners I’ve worked with, and it made the experience all the more seamless and memorable.”

Giving us an overview of the venue and the logistical nuances, Rhea goes on to add, “Planning a destination wedding, especially one this layered, always begins with finding the right location. The couple was certain from the outset: they wanted a destination that felt accessible for their global guest list yet carried the intimacy and charm of a true getaway. The Middle East quickly became our focus, and after thorough research, Oman stood out. Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah, with its exceptional service and versatile venues, proved to be the perfect choice. One of its greatest strengths was the culinary team. The food, such a cornerstone of any Indian wedding, was executed to perfection across both Indian and global menus. Having multiple venues within the same resort also made logistics seamless for guests. Naturally, a celebration of this scale came with its share of challenges—from coordinating special visa permissions for African passport holders to navigating local alcohol regulations. But with the support of our remarkable local partners and a bit of creative problem-solving, everything came together beautifully.”

With a deep commitment to crafting meaningful experiences, Roshni and Yash consciously steered away from the conventional, choosing instead to delight and surprise at every turn. Their goal was to weave together the richness of Indian traditions with a contemporary, global sensibility to create a celebration that resonated equally with their desi roots and their international circle of loved ones.

Rhea shares, “Our approach is always rooted in deep personalisation. We took the time to truly understand the couple, which included their journey, their families, and the moments that mattered most to them. This allowed us to thoughtfully infuse their personalities into every detail. For instance, we reimagined the traditional haldi with a beach club vibe—dreamy pastels replaced yellow, jazz melodies floated through the air with a live saxophonist, and whimsical touches like bubble machines and crochet drapes created a soft, playful atmosphere, all while preserving the sanctity of the ritual. Interactive elements like a ‘Ring for a Drink’ wall and a guest message recorder added layers of connection and joy. Every choice was made with intention, ensuring the celebration felt as heartfelt as it was unforgettable.”

Rhea goes on to share her favorite moments from the union that her team curated, keeping the couple’s choices in mind. She shares, “What I truly loved about this wedding was that we were creating immersive experiences from the ground up. It was never just about the visuals; it was about how everything felt, sounded, and smelled. One of my favourite moments was our take on a traditional souk-style event. We wanted to avoid the usual décor clichés and instead crafted an atmosphere that was rich in detail. Guests were welcomed by the heady scent of bakhoor at the entrance, walked through layers of flowing drapes and textured shawls, and were serenaded by santoor melodies and soft market sounds in the background. They sipped on Omani tea, savoured baklava, and enjoyed local delicacies. They were even greeted by two friendly camels that had everyone laughing about having stepped into Aladdin’s world. And just before any of that, they were met with a heartwarming surprise—a welcome video from the couple played at the airport itself, setting the tone for what was to come. It’s these little touches of magic that, I believe, make a wedding truly unforgettable.

Yash and Roshni’s wedding was a reflection of how powerful and beautiful a celebration can be when it’s tailored to who the couple truly are. It reminded us of the importance of storytelling through space, sound, scent, and emotion. More than just a wedding, it was an experience—and I’m so grateful we got to help bring it to life.

From curating the sound and fragrance in the lobby and elevators, to transforming rituals with creativity and care, to making sure every guest felt seen and celebrated—it was truly a labour of love. And those are the kinds of weddings we live for.”
