With WeddingSutra on Location- Komal Shah

As part of our new initiative ‘WeddingSutra on Location’ we invited five brides-to-be for a unique experience at Designer Studio, a multi designer store in Mahalaxmi, Mumbai. Starting with a Style Consultation, a Makeover and a Photo shoot, each of the five participants got to interact with some of the best names in Bridal & Wedding services.

Here, in the third of the four-part series, Komal Shah, a Corporate Communications Professional at National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), who is tying the knot in January 2014, with Alok Shah, a Chicago based Research Scientist blogs about her experience:

“Amidst all my wedding planning, I longed for an indulgence, a small getaway, a chance to experience the excitement and joy that my wedding day was going to bring. I happened to read about WeddingSutra on Location while I was surfing www.weddingsutra.com, and I emailed them. Much to my delight, I received a reply inviting me to be a part of the next WeddingSutra on Location!

I walked into Designer Studio with little expectations, an open mind and enough time on hand. I first met Wedding Planner Neha Shroff who was very warm and made a genuine effort to know my personality and tastes based on which she helped me select outfits. I was looking for something classic, essentially bridal, traditional in tone, contemporary in style. It was not too long before we spotted this gorgeous outfit by Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor- an ivory Banarasi lehenga with abstract floral embroidery and borders in shades of gold, red and green, paired with a rich tomato red embellished blouse and dupatta. After some more deliberation and discussion Neha and I agreed upon this outfit to be the one, and fortunately it fitted me very well!

Getting my makeup and hair done was the next step. Makeup Artist Ojas Rajani and her team, took their time to give my hair a life of its own. I loved the subtlety, the natural bounce and the waves they created– while still maintaining the length. Ojas herself did a splendid job with make-up! I loved sitting in front of the mirror watching the whole process as she worked through my base, then artfully the eyes, the cheekbones and lips. Ojas then draped and styled my outfit and Neha accessorized my look with traditional gold jewellery. Once I saw my final look, I was overjoyed! I felt beautiful, confident and content.

The last leg of the episode was the photo shoot with Photographer Shreya Sen. Candid pictures have never been my scene; actually no pictures have been my scene! But Shreya’s effortlessness, simplicity and grace put me at ease. I loved her professionalism and clarity, and posing for pictures this time was fun!
