7+ Instagram Stores for your Dream Kaleere

Every jingle of her Kaleere made her smile wider, every jewel she wore, said a story about her.

Suspended from their chooda, the declicate, umbrella-shaped kaleere are not just an ornate adornment to enhance the bride’s appearance. The symbolism of the kaleere goes back to ancient times – the shape of the jewellery is meant to invoke an abundance in the bride’s new home – food, wealth, prosperity, the kaleere (literally) covers them all.

The tradition of the bride’s sisters and cousins tying them on her is also poignant and there’s another adorable myth entwined in these adornments. Brides shake their kaleere-laden wrists over the heads of their unmarried sisters and friends and if a leaf or a portion of the kaleere falls on that girl’s head – it means she will get married next!

Of Punjabi origin, kaleere are being embraced across Indian weddings and we say the more the merrier! What’s even better is that the patterns are evolving and modern design is making this lighthearted, lovely tradition even more interesting.

We’re fans. Here’s a list of a few Instagram stores that offer breathtaking designs as unique as your love story!
