Sun, seafood and spa sessions – see how photographer Shreya Sen planned a fun-filled bachelorette party for her girls squad in Sri Lanka.
When Shreya Sen announced that she was going to get married soon, her friends were elated. Besides the wedding preparations, her girl squad was looking for an excuse to get together and ring in the ultimate bachelorette party celebrations in a beautiful place.
Since Shreya and her friends love beaches, Sri Lanka was an easy choice. “The idea of a relaxed holiday always seems incomplete without the sea for me and my friends. Therefore, for my bachelorette bash, we decided to go to Sri Lanka as it is beautiful and also convenient to reach from India.” The girls booked into the beautiful Beach Villa Auralanka in Boossa, which is situated between Galle and Hikkaduwa. “We opted for a three-bedroom villa with a pool right on the beach which was perfect for the seven of us. It is a beautiful property where we could hear the sound of the waves crashing on the shores throughout the day. Hikkaduwa and Galle were about 20 mins away on either side, and the hotel manager was extremely helpful and full of recommendations for things to see and do,” shares Shreya.
Sri Lanka is a seafood lover’s delight, and the girls made the most of it. “We tried the seafood platter at JLH Beach Restaurant & Bar in Hikkaduwa which was unbelievable. Ministry of Crab in Colombo is definitely a restaurant that cannot be missed if you love seafood. Amangalla hotel in Galle is absolutely beautiful and a great place for a luxurious lunch. I highly recommend the local Sri Lankan breakfast which includes string hoppers and egg curry. It was delicious!” recalls the happy bride-to-be.
Apart from relishing lip-smacking food, the girls explored the beautiful flora and fauna of the island city. They walked around the Old Town of Galle to admire the ancient Dutch architecture of the place. During the day, they lazed around on the beach in Hikkaduwa and enjoyed indulgent massages at Spa Ceylon. Later in the evenings, they headed to a nearby gallery café and bar to enjoy quirky cocktails. They also shopped for interesting home decor items and collectibles at Paradise Road.
In between all the hectic and crazy activities, the girls made sure they shared moments that brought them closer and built lasting memories. Shreya even shares some tips to help brides-to-be plan a seamless bachelorette do. “Allow yourself to be pampered and let your friends arrange it for you as you will be planning enough for the wedding! Co-ordinate and arrange for bachelorette games, alcohol and music prior to the holiday as a lot of your friends will be meeting for the first time and it’s good to have these activities ready to break the ice. Pick a place that is convenient to get to, has a combination of restaurants, bars, spas and other fun activities. Autos are quite safe to use in Sri Lanka if you want to save on the travel cost in between beaches. Sri Lanka is definitely a great location for a bachelorette bash – the beaches are beautiful, safe and clean, and most importantly, it is an ideal place to soak in some sun and enjoy your bachelorette to the fullest.”
