Sister of the Groom: Isha Ambani

Bridesmaids, take note! Isha Ambani’s sartorial ensembles for her brother’s pre-wedding festivities showed us how to deliver fashion wins.

Extravagance, vibrance, and opulence – the Ambanis are always a step ahead! And, Isha Ambani – the daughter of the richest man in Asia, Mukesh Ambani, and an accomplished businesswoman in her own right – proved this true. Styled by acclaimed celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, Isha looked ravishing during the three-day festivities that took place at Jamnagar, home to Ambani’s business empire. Here’s a look at her outfits that made netizens go into a frenzy.

An Evening in Everland
For the very first event in the line-up of Radhika and Anant’s pre-wedding celebrations, Isha made the fashionistas go gaga in this custom pink Miss Sohee gown. 3D cheery blossoms and magnolia flowers embellished on the dusty pink-hued ensemble gave it a dreamy look in tandem with the theme of the evening. The look was completed with a pearl and diamond choker, danglers, and a diamond cuff.

Channeling 20’s Glamour
The second look that Isha donned was a museum-worthy midnight-blue floor-length gown from Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection by Karl Lagerfeld featuring a halter neck, silver leaf-shaped embellishments, and a high neck. Multiple solitaire diamond bangles, haathphool, and emerald-cut earrings completed the look. Her shoes also complemented the outfit with a similar embroidery.

As the evening progressed into a concert where pop sensation Rihanna performed, Isha had more in store as she changed into a sheer custom black gown by Louis Vuitton replete with sequins and thigh slit. The jewels were a statement diamond and gold bangle while her hair was styled in soft waves.

Jungle Trails
The visit to the Animal Rescule Center with a sunlit lunch on the cards called for a safari-chic look with a dash of glam. Isha chose relaxed cargo pants with diamond-encrusted monkey-shaped brooches pinned on the side and a bronze strapless corset top by iconic couturier Alexander McQueen which Isha has treasured since her college days. Solitaire knuckle dusters, huge diamond earrings, a hair accessory in the shape of leaping antelopes, and a pair of studded black sneakers went perfectly in sync with the outfit.

Mela Rouge
Isha channeled Parisien-cabaret with rich scarlet hues for the Mela Rouge-themed ‘dazzling desi romance’. Wearing an off-shoulder choli with a fixed drape and a deep red Manish Malhotra lehenga embellished with monochrome sequins, Isha paired the look with an emerald necklace set. The lush hues of the emerald jewellery cut a stunning contrast against the red. Later a fur cape was added to the outfit to keep Isha warm. A sleek fishtail braid hairdo, metallic gold eyes, and a bright red pout finished the look with flair!

As the night progressed, Isha picked a jazzy lightweight lehenga from Manish Malhotra that would allow her to groove easily. Candy-coloured sequins, unicorns, and crystals were embroidered into the bodice of the crop top choli while the lehenga reflected a linear sequin pattern. A pair of sparkly sneakers ensured Isha could continue dancing to her heart’s content. For her jewellery, Isha chose a layered solitaire necklace with peek-a-boo emeralds.

Lunch
Isha also sported a customized block printed co-ord shorts and jacket set from Jodi with elephant prints to keep her comfy. A white tank top accented the orange hue. Accessorizing the look were several layered necklaces, a pair of lace-free white sneakers, and a petite Hermes bag. Her makeup was minimal with a nude lip and hair undone in messy waves.

Hastakshar
A ceremony where the bride and groom’s impending nuptials are formally announced and the families come to a formal agreement of the union – the hastakshar ceremony called for an ‘Indian Heritage’ dress code. Isha donned a handloom tissue gold and ivory lehenga from Manish Malhotra with intricate embroidery. The fabric, for both, Isha’s lehenga and her mom, Nita’s saree was sourced from Swadesh – Nita Ambani’s initiative to support Indian textiles. For her jewels, Isha wore her mom Nita Ambani’s emerald and diamond set that Nita had last sported at her son Akash Ambani’s wedding.

Isha was also seen wearing a very unique lehenga with a one-of-a-kind bejeweled blouse. Taking jadau, polki, and gem-encrusted pieces from Isha’s heirloom collection, ace designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla crafted a blouse that was stitched on the garment. New jewels were also sourced from Gujarat and Rajasthan. Along with the jewels, gold, and silver zardozi works were also added to the blouse to create this wearable work of heritage art! The ensemble was accentuated by a layered diamond necklace (from her wedding day), earrings, hathphool, and bangles.

For the final look of the night, Isha picked a Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga encrusted with diamond and pearl embellishments. Adding an edge to the outfit was a cape created with large, puffy blooms from Nicole + Felicia Couture. The choli with its tasseled sleeves, the emerald-diamond choker necklace, the intricate ivory lehenga, and the cape – everything just came together as one to create a look that was extremely high fashion.
