Bride-to-be Anushi exudes the charisma of a Malayali bride in gold baubles by Kalyan Jewellers and the Lakmé Absolute range of beauty products.

WeddingSutra, in collaboration with Lakmé Absolute and Kalyan Jewellers, brings to you ‘WeddingSutra on Location’ – a curated showcase of top bridal trends and style statements from some of our WeddingSutra Favorites.

The latest edition of this popular bridal initiative explores the ornate opulence of South Indian brides in silken weaves and the timeless charm of traditional gold jewellery. The first of this three-part series focuses on the intricacies of a Malayali bride’s wedding ensemble just like bride Anushi. Clad in the richness of a traditional Kanjeevaram saree, she looked resplendent in fine jewellery by Kalyan Jewellers, a brand known for crafting exceptional ornaments steeped in tradition. Today the label is synonymous with designs that unite contemporary and classic concepts.

Anushi’s gorgeous bridal look was courtesy a traditional saree, exquisite jewellery by Kalyan Jewellers and flawless makeup. Makeup artist Chanderlata of BrideMeUp by Chanderlata gave her a bridal look with high-quality products by Lakmé Absolute. Sporting a bridal bun with sprigs of baby’s breath blooms the hairstyle was a modern take on a traditional mogra clad wedding updo. Gorgeous silk sarees are a signature ensemble for South Indian brides, and Anushi’s Kanjeevaram saree by Sailesh Singhania was draped and accessorized by stylist Shikha Dhandhia. Her transformation into a bride was captured by Navin Varma Photography at Trident, Bandra-Kurla, Mumbai.

Anushi shares, “We started the day with stylist Shikha Dhandhia selecting gorgeous baubles from Kalyan Jewellers for me. I was awestruck by the intricate detailing of the Kalyan Jewellers Muhurat Collection.” This Malayali bride was all about tradition, donning pieces that looked like they were part of a royal treasure chest. She was styled with handcrafted Nagas from the collection which are finely crafted pieces with an antique gold finish that speak of mythology. She wore beautiful ‘Jimmiki Kammal’ (earrings) that perfectly matched with other the bridal ornaments like the necklace and long mala combination, ‘kadaka vala’ (bangles), and gorgeous statement rings.

For Anushi’s Malayali bridal look, Shikha styled her in a gorgeous Kanjeevaram saree in pink and purple hues by Sailesh Singhania. The iridescent tones of the silk drape enhanced the delicate floral pattern of the saree, which Anushi teamed with a statement ‘kamar bandh’ (waist belt) reminiscent of gold temple jewellery. Anushi shares, “I loved the ornate styling of the saree that enhanced my overall look, and I loved how its myriad rich shades contrasted beautifully with the grand essence of the traditional jewellery I wore.”

For Anushi’s bridal visage, Makeup Artist Chanderlata created a soft glamorous look with shimmering rosy eyelids and muted cheeks. The lips were highlighted with the Lakmé Absolute Matte Revolution Lip Color – Mauve Mania. With nourishing raspberry seed, oil it ensured the smoothest application on her lips and left them feeling supple all day. Its long-wear formula combined with its creamy texture made sure that there was no fading or cracking of color and gave her a perfect pout. Says Anushi, “The shade of this lipstick is one that will suit every skin tone. It’s definitely going into my makeup pouch. I loved the final look that Chanderlata created for me. It was the perfect mix of sophisticated and glamorous.”

Anushi’s Look
Chanderlata crafted Anushi’s makeup to accentuate her natural features. After prepping her face with Lakmé Absolute Blur Perfect Primer and applying the Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Foundation for an even base, she locked in the look with Lakmé Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact. Her lids were highlighted with shimmering shades of rose gold from the Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette in Fresh Rose, and lined with Lakmé Absolute Precision Eye Artist Kajal in Black. For that extra oomph, a generous application of the Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Volume Mascara did the trick. She added some warmth to her cheeks with the Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Blush Duos in Coral Blush. An application of the Lakmé Absolute Matte Revolution Lip Color in Mauve Mania completed Anushi’s stunning bridal look with a smooth and light finish, without weighing her lips down.
