Behind the Scenes – Gaurav Gupta

Designer Gaurav Gupta, synonymous with edgy, avant-garde style, opened the doors to his flagship store in the heritage precinct of Kala Ghoda, South Mumbai. It immediately became our chosen venue for our latest WeddingSutra on Location.

Simultaneously fantastical and futuristic, the entrance to the store is watched over by wrought-iron angels. Grey, motion-sensored curtains are draped around the racks holding Gupta’s silhouettes. Just as she stood at the beginning of creation, Nyx, Greek Goddess of the Night, manifested in stony cement, welcomes you to the couture section.

As we walked in, we were treated to the sight of gorgeous couture pieces: edgy jackets, voluminous gowns, and his signature lehengas in pastel and bright hues. Zardozi, thread work and other indigenous techniques of embroidery were uniquely used on silk, organza and delicate laces in the collection.

Our three brides-to-be, PR & Communications Professional Shubhi Grover, Corporate Executive Sakshi Seghal and Writer and Actress Sukhmani Sadana, were thrilled at the opportunity to wear Gupta’s stunning creations.
