Shweta Rabra – Mayyur Girotra

Discover her transformation at WeddingSutra on Location held at Mayyur Girotra’s new store in Khar (West), Mumbai

As part of our initiative ‘WeddingSutra on Location’, we invited four brides-to-be for a unique experience at Mayyur Girotra’s new store in Khar (West), Mumbai. Starting with a Style Consultation, a Makeover and a Photo Shoot, each of the participants got to interact with some of the best names in Bridal & Wedding services.

Here in the first of the four-part series, bride-to-be Shweta Rabra writes about her experience with WeddingSutra on Location at Mayyur Girotra.

“I got engaged in May 2014 and after a few days the realization dawned that wedding planning is not only fun and exciting but daunting too. I work with a Bank in Mumbai, my works schedules are most hectic and my wedding takes place in Delhi five months from now. So when it was time to start planning I didn’t know where to start. And then I logged on to WeddingSutra, and after reading about the experiences of other brides I realized most of us go through the same pre-wedding stress. Spending time on www.weddingsutra.com and www.facebook.com/weddingsutra helped me understand the planning process and learn more about the choices in the market. One day, I read about ‘WeddingSutra on Location’, it sounded very interesting so I decided to write in to WeddingSutra and when I got an invitation I was thrilled!

The day arrived and I reached Mayyur Girotra’s Studio well on time. After a quick round of introductions with team WeddingSutra and the experts I felt relaxed and there was a warm and upbeat ambiance inside the studio. I started off checking the lehengas, I liked a few, but I felt one red lehenga would look good on me. It had zari and resham work and was teamed with a contrast peach dupatta and rich red choli. I tried it on and it fit me quite well. Now it was time to get my makeup done by Makeup Maestro Kumar Iyer. I got chatting with Kumar and he felt I could carry off a bold and traditional look, so he decided to highlight my eyes and lips. (Read more below). For my hair, Kumar and hairstylist Laksh Singh recommended a side hairdo. I love my open locks and seldom tie my hair but they encouraged me to try something new and I think the final result was amazing.

With my hair and makeup done, I accessorized my ensemble with jewellery. Team Azva pitched in with an amazingly beautiful gold jewellery collection- I picked a golden haathpatti and a raani haar to go with the conventional red outfit and bright red lips. The final look was ‘bold bride’ the way Kumar envisioned it to be, and I quite liked it.

Now that I was ready, it was time to get clicked by ace photographer Dev Purbiya; me and the other brides-to-be exchanged notes and chatted while Dev captured the candid moments, and this time posing for the camera was so much fun. The icing on the cake was meeting Designer Mayyur and getting photographed with him. All in all, it was a beautiful and complete experience. I am a lot more clear on what I need and how to prepare for the much-awaited big day.”

Shweta’s Look
Kumar first set the base with Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Foundation in Golden Medium and brushed on the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Peach Blush. Then, he picked out the Lakmé Absolute Color Illusion Eye Shadow Black Pearl for her eyes. To maximize the intensity and drama, he wet the eye-shadow applicator before use. A stroke of Lakmé Absolute Drama Stylist Shadow Crayon on the inner corners of her eyes made them look brighter. He added on coats of Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Mascara and applied the Lakmé Absolute Kohl in Grey and Brown on her lower eyelids. A dash of Lakmé Absolute Gloss Stylist #BerryCherry with its subtle shimmer gave her a shiny wet pout. This shade of red complemented her skin tone as well as the colour of her lehenga. Kumar finished the look by dusting on some Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Compact in Beige Honey.
