Varisha Maniar – Shyamal & Bhumika

As part of our initiative WeddingSutra on Location, we invited four brides-to-be for a unique experience at Ahmedabad couturiers Shyamal & Bhumika’s flagship store in Kemps Corner, Mumbai. Starting with a Style Consultation, followed by a Makeover and culminating in a glamourous Photo Shoot, each participant got an opportunity to interact with some of the best names in Bridal & Wedding services.

Here, in the second of the four-part series, bride-to-be Varisha Maniar shares her On Location experience at Shyamal & Bhumika.

“I’ve always followed WeddingSutra’s posts religiously. I love how their content is both informative and interesting; first-hand knowledge about all the intricate detail that needs attention before a wedding. And I was always a BIG FAN of their On Location shoots with real brides. A lot of my friends have been part of these shoots and hearing about how memorable the experience was, I really hoped the opportunity to be part of it would show up.

Then I got lucky! WeddingSutra shortlisted me for an upcoming On Location shoot. I was the happiest bride-to-be! The fact that the shoot was at my favourite designers Shyamal & Bhumika store was the icing on the cake!

I entered with great expectations. I was floored by how beautiful the Shyamal & Bhumika store looked. I met team WeddingSutra who introduced me to the other lovely brides there. Then I chatted with make-up artist Amrita Sanghvi and The Wedding Salad photographers, Aayushi and Kanishka.

The next step was choosing an outfit. I’d decided to try something different, maybe something I’d never worn before. With the team’s assistance and advice, I chose a really gorgeous and contemporary gown in a festive royal blue with classic gold embroidery. It was the first thing I tried on and it fit so beautifully, it felt like it was made for me!

Outfit finalized, it was time for hair and make-up. Amrita Sanghvi is very talented and very experienced and she told me she wanted to create a bold look; winged eye liner, a smudge of brown eye shadow and Lakme’s bright feisty red for my lips. My hair-do was a classic blow-dry ending with big, soft curls.

To accessorize, I chose a pair of shoes from Heel and Buckle. They looked beautiful with my outfit and were super comfortable. A pair of heavy gold earrings and beautifully crafted gold bangles from Azva completed my look. I was in love with the transformation and already feeling like a bride.

My absolutely favorite part of the experience was the much awaited photo shoot with Ayushi and Kanishka. They’re so friendly and made sure I was very comfortable as they took lots of candid shots, chatting and giggling with me all the while.

I gained a lot of insight from this experience and it was a memorable day! I am so glad I got an opportunity to experience what it would be to feel and look like on my “D Day”. Thank You WeddingSutra!”

Varisha’s Look

“Varisha is a vivacious and bold bride-to-be willing to try out different looks”, shares Makeup artist Amrita Sangavi. Amrita decided to give her bold lips complimenting Varisha’s skin color. Since lips were the highlight, Amrita kept the rest of the makeup minimal and muted. She started with creating the base with the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Foundation in Ivory Fair and set it with the Lakmé Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact in Ivory Fair. She accentuated her gorgeous almond shaped eyes with Lakmé Absolute Precision Liquid Liner and few coats of the Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eyes Mascara on her lashes. She then used the Lakmé Absolute Sun-Kissed Bronzer on her cheekbones to contour her face and finished with a soft hint of the Rose Blush shade of the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Blush Duos. For the bold lips Amrita used the newest Lakmé Absolute Sculpt Studio Hi-Definition Matte Lipstick in Red Rush shade. Finally, Varisha’s hair was styled in soft waves. Amrita shares a tip with bride-to-be, “When the whole ensemble is predominantly blue, avoid using blue in any form in your makeup”.
