Teena Rajpurohit – Ritu Kumar

Ritu Kumar’s flagship store in Lower Parel, Mumbai

As part of our initiative ‘WeddingSutra on Location’, we invited four brides-to-be for a unique experience at Ritu Kumar’s flagship store in Lower Parel, Mumbai. Starting with a Style Consultation, a Makeover and a Photo Shoot, each of the participants got to interact with some of the best names in Bridal & Wedding services.

Here in the third of the four-part series, bride-to-be Teena Rajpurohit tells us about her experience with WeddingSutra on Location at Ritu Kumar.

“I’ve been a big fan of WeddingSutra since long and after I got engaged, I have been logging on to www.weddingsutra.com almost every day. Real Brides, Real Style is my favorite section on the website and on www.weddingsutra.com/blog I always enjoy reading about the experiences of brides-to-be with WeddingSutra on Location. So one day, I wrote to WeddingSutra expressing my interest in on Location, and I was delighted when I received an invite for their next one at the Ritu Kumar store.

On Location was an amazing experience from the word go. When I entered Ritu Kumar’s store I was warmly greeted by Anshu and Tejal from the WeddingSutra team, and they introduced me to Makeup Artist Ojas Rajani and Photographer duo Ashwin and Jhalak (Shades Photography). The team then took me around the store to show me the different lehengas. The bridal collection at Ritu Kumar’s store included a mix of royal, classic and traditional ensembles. I have always loved bright statement colors, so I was looking for something in red, orange or pink. I was immediately attracted to a royal pink lehenga with delicate borders and embroidered with traditional intricate zardosi work. It was teamed with two dupattas- a pink dupatta to be draped on the body and a net pink dupatta with golden butis to be placed on the head. Once I tried it on, I loved it more so I decided to wear it. The team then showed me the jewellery by Azva. We chose a gold rani haar and jhumkas set, complete with a maang tikka & a matha patti for a traditional look.

Next, it was time to get dressed up by Ojas. She decided to give me a ‘Phera’ look to compliment my outfit and jewellery. While she was doing my makeup, we got chatting on wedding preparations, and she shared some useful skin care tips, which are now part of my daily regimen. I loved how she enhanced my features by giving me golden shimmery eyes, a fleshy pink lip color and a chic updo (more details below).

Finally it was time for the photo shoot. Ashwin and Jhalak made me feel super comfortable and it was a session full of smiles and laughter. Later when we interacted they shared some good advice on what I should keep in mind while deciding on my wedding photographer.

Overall, my experience with WeddingSutra on Location was phenomenal! I had a great time, and I will always cherish these beautiful moments. Thank you WeddingSutra!”

Teena’s Look
Teena’s traditional Indian features inspired Ojas to give her a traditional phera look. She began with the Lakmé Absolute Concealer and blended on the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Foundation in Honey Beige. She mentioned that a corrector is essential for an even skin tone and to create a smooth base with the foundation.

She brushed on the Lakmé Absolute Colour Illusion Eye Shadow in champagne gold with shimmer pigment and enhanced it with glitter. She then used the Lakmé Absolute Shine Eyeliner to accentuate Teena’s deep-set eyes in the winged eyeliner style to give her a doe-eyed look. She added on the Lakmé Absolute Kohl Ultimate to the upper and lower lids, smoking it out in an upward, outward fashion, and blending it further with the eye shadow.

She brushed on coats of the Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eye Mascara onto Teena’s curled lashes. Ojas feels that curled lashes made a big difference to the look. She then highlighted the cheeks and contoured Teena’s face with the Lakmé Absolute Moonlit Highlighter and Sun Kissed Bronzer. For the lips, she used Lakmé Gloss Stylist in Pink Pout and a light touch of blush pink lip stain to finish the look. She chose bright pink on the lips and flowers in her hair to soften Teena’s face and to complement the mathapatti and the hair-do.
